I have up for sale an external HDD with Seagate 5400.4 250GB HDD inside. The enclosure is NexStar SX. It is used for about 2 weeks. Included in the sale is the external HDD with USB cable. The USB cable has two plugs into laptops, even though you only need one to power. Two USB plugs make file transferring faster. I can reach 25MB/sec transfer rate using all both USB plugs. I ran HDTune to confirm that the drive has no bad sector. The drive is fully functional.
I'm asking $50 shipped for the drive. I accept Paypal. The item will be shipped via USPS Priority Mail with delivery confirmation.

Here are pictures of the actual item:

I have sold several laptops on here, including X60s and T60. I also have an ebay account, forneus00, with 60 feedbacks and 100% positive.

Nobody needs a large-capacity external HDD for backup purposes, or for storing files?

yup, I sure do!

But I checked out some HD prices last night, and discovered that brand new 250-320gb drives, with full warranty, are only 60 bucks shipped now...from Egghead and several others. (plus a $5 enclosure of course; a la DealExtreme et al).

If you're interested in an offer Avalon, I'd go 40 bucks shipped.

You can PM me if you're interested. Or if not, no problem. 8)

That's for the drive only though. Yes, I know the enclosure doesn't worth much, but I've been burned with cheap enclosure on ebay before, where the maximum transfer speed is only around 10MB/sec. This is a high quality enclosure that's capable of 2 to 3 times that transfer speed.
I'll keep this up for a while and gradually lower the price. Who knows, I might make a deal with you at one time :)

 ...works for me, Avalon.

Oddly enough, from what I've played with, the performance (and quality) of those chinese cases doesn't seem to be correlated to price at all!

Some of the $4.99 cases are all-aluminum and xfer steady at 25-30 MB/sec. Whereas, some of the $12.99 ones are truly junky plastic and don't work worth squat. There just doesn't seem to be any surety that higher cost gets you a better product, in this field.

Of course, some of the 5-dollar ones are junk too...
