Sold: R50p -- $185 Shipped

Sold to a forum member -- $185 Shipped --

The system doesn't have warranty on it but I have thoroughly tested it and guarantee it to not be D.O.A. I will support any immediately occurring problems as best I can.

Here are the basic specs (model 1832-NU1):
P M 1.7GHz (Banias/1M cache), 1G/PC2700 (2x512), 15" UXGA(1600x1200) TFT LCD w 128MB ATI FireGL T2, CD-RW/DVD-R Multi-burner, Bluetooth/Modem(CDC), 1GB Ethernet(LOM), Intel 802.11b wireless(MPCI), Secure Chip(TCPA), WinXP Pro

Genuine IBM battery (6-cell) RED status
Genuine IBM AC adapter
US keyboards
Windows XP Pro C.O.A.
40G/5400 Hitachi Drive preloaded with Windows XP

The system can be upgraded with a faster Dothan CPU (up to 2.1GHz) if you wish.

Cosmetics: 9+/10 cosmetic condition – no cracks or major scratches except a visible scratch on the lid
LCDs: No dead/stuck pixels. This LCD is nice and bright. It does have the shadowing in the lower right corner common with the UXGA screens. It also has a very small pin-size nick on the surface that doesn't show when the system is powered on.
Keyboard: Clean but the trackpoint mouse is 'stiff'. The Trackpad works fine. This system would be best for someone that prefers the trackpad.

*** Shipping to the US will be via 2-3 day USPS Priority mail
*** Shipping to Canada will be $15 more (2-3 day USPS Priority mail)
*** Shipping to Europe will be $35 more (6-10 day) or $65 (5 day)

I take MoneyBookers (prefer) or Cashiers Check or PayPal (least prefer - please add $7 for PayPal).

When you say "stiff" - do you just mean that the cap is worn and in a bad shape? Because this can be cheaply fixed. Or is there something wrong with the trackpoint itself?

I mean the amount of pressure it takes to move the cursor is harder. There is an option in the mouse settings but even on the lightest it is still hard. To some people this might not matter.

Price reduced for a good system with the flexview LCD. I'm tired of seeing it lying around my office so help me find a good home for this system. In my mind, it's basically a desktop (heavier than the T4x 15" systems) that can easily be moved around the home.

You mentioned it has the shadowing in the lower right corner common with the UXGA screens.
Shadowing and dark spots can also be a sign the CCFL / Backlight is beginning to fail.
How do you know for sure if it's normal shadowing or the start of CCFL failure?

I presume BobA is talking about the little dark spots (less than 0.5" typically) in the lower corners of the screen, that have been observed on many Flexview IPS screens and some others as well, please see this link:

dear dr_st

Thank you for your reply. Although I can't presume anything given the array of causes of shadows.

I've have read, been told, and experienced that shadows can be of different causes. Some causes normal and others an indication of a problem. Sometimes difficult to assess, especially without seeing the actual display.

Have you seen this thread...

http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.ph ... shadow+lcd

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=49274&start=0&hilit=shadow+lcd

That thread gives a different perspective than the link you sent, and I think both perspectives have merit.

I agree that it is near impossible to tell what the cause of a shadow is without actually seeing the screen and what the shadow looks like and knowing the history of a machine. While some differences in normal brightness vary at specific points on an LCD, shadows can also indicate CCFL / backlight failure or that the tube is starting to darken on the ends. With that I can't presume anything. Which is why I asked bob.

This is an interesting topic, and I wish more photos of different types of LCD's were available on the Forum in one spot. With that said though, and this being a FS thread, I think additional general discussion of LCDs and their characteristics should be reserved for LCD subject threads, not within a FS thread.

Thank you for your input.

Yes, this is what I am refering to. I have seen this on most FlexView LCDs - even ones with new backlights.

BTW - I have a sale on this system pending receipt of payment.
