i used T60p and i love it , now i am planning to buy new thinkpad .but im bit confused that which are latest thinkpads ,or i shd go with the t60p
i have no idea other T series (42 , 6X) .Please give ur suggestions.

What do you want to do with it? Word processing, surfing in general: a T23 is perfectly adequate. Video processing and modern games: anything from a T40 on up is OK. A T60p is already pretty high-powered and for "normal" use overpowered.

Lots of people use computers that offer much more than they really require - and need to pay for.

That still doesn't answer the question as to what you want to do with it. Not knowing that, it's impossible to make any suggestions.

15 inch or 14 inch display..?

i may use for office work ..like remote machine login. lot of programming stuff. and work more than 5-6hr continuously. install many tools like eclipse.
Does it helps or please let me know in what terms you my usage?

my main concern in this post is that , as i told T60p is very much fine with , i was just curious that there are other new models came like (t 400/500) and i dont have idea abt them..so just wanted to know shall i look for other new models or 60p is

sounds like you have a good machine now..
none of that will stress the T60p..
if you are using a 15 inch UXGA flexview display none of the newer thinkpads have as nice a display..
and the aspect has changed..

if most of your programming work is in one place, of a type that would benefit from lots of screen real estate and weight does not matter then you might consider the ThinkPad W700ds..

otherwise keep the T60p for a while longer..

If you are doing programming, the choice of UXGA (4:3) vs. wide screen is a matter of style. Some folks like the taller (your T60p) screen to get as many lines of code as possible from the module you're working on visible at the same time. If your code is more modular, you might prefer more open windows side-by-side

can you please tell about T400/500 compare with T60p in terms of performance , screen width , and of course price?

The newer ThinkPads SATA controllers run at 3.0GBs, which if you're planning on upgrading to a SSD will make a significant difference.
