A couple of facts here...
a) These are very fine and fairly rare machines. However, I really don't need this one.
b) I hate the very idea of parting it out, but need the $$$...my twin boys' birthday party's coming up this weekend...
sooooooooooo....it has to go. Or be turned into spare parts if no one shows love...
the basics:
ThinkPad T42p 2373-Q1U
Original description:
P M 765............as fast and powerful as these come, 2.1 Ghz Dothan
1GB RAM
60GB 7200rpm HDD..............none, cover IS included
15 UXGA(1600x1200) TFT LCD.........one flawless FlexView
128MB ATI FireGL T2
CD-RW/DVD-R Multi-Burner............now CD-RW/DVD-ROM combo
IBM 802.11a/b/g wireless(MPCI)
Bluetooth/Modem(CDC)
1Gb Ethernet(LOM)
UltraNav
Secure Chip
Fingerprint Reader...........a very rare feature on pre-T43 units
9c Li-Ion batt....................in green, low cycles
WinXP Pro.................please read below
known imperfections:
- wear and sticker residue on the lid
- COA is damaged and partially ripped off.
Overall, this is a VERY nice and powerful unit. If I didn't own the T43p in my signature I'd probably keep it, it is that impressive. I've tested it against all usual T4x defects (GPU, USB, charging issues) and found it to be healthy.
Now, the fun part...
I know that I'll walk away with $400 if I part it out. Do the math, or I'll be more than happy to do it for you...
I don't want to rip this T42p apart. It's way too nice. And I still love ThinkPads dearly.
To save this rare bird from becoming a pile of spares, throw me a reasonable offer somewhere near the figure that it would bring parted out, and it's yours. It's that simple. I don't mind losing a few bucks on it if it means keeping this baby alive. It's rare. It's nice, although not by any means perfect. It's worth being saved.
I'll be on the road for the next few days, so the pictures likely won't be available before Wednesday, but all inquiries are welcome.
PM or email me directly to tataslonATaol.com with any questions/concerns.
