Sale of 80 GB (74.5 GB usable) Intel X25-m 2.5" SSD as I'm upgrading to the 160 GB model. I am selling it on ebay and this is a great way to get a "Gold standard" Lenovo approved part without having to splurge.

The current bidding is $85.

The drive has an Intel manufacturer's warranty until 05/01/2012 and by that time you'll probably get a different SSD. Since there are no moving parts a used unit is as good as a new one just with a shorter warranty (by less than four months).

If you do software development an SSD is a "must have" because compiling is so very much faster with an SSD.

Most people can get by on 75 GB of space. Windows ends up taking a lot but besides that most programs don't take up much space.

On my system, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 (RC) takes up 24 GB and 3 GB used for hibernate and 2 GB used for paging for about 30 GB for the basic system leaving plenty of space (45 GB) for other things.

If you are "T" series owner you can have the SSD in one bay and remove the optical drive and have the hard drive the second bay. I have an "X" series and I rarely use my external USB 2.0 optical drive. Netbook owners also do not have a built-in optical drive.

NOTE: This unit will fit most Thinkpads except X300, X301, T400s which use the 1.8" drive instead of the 2.5" drive.
