Product ID: 1830BQU

CPU: Originally it was a 1.6ghz Centrino. It was upgraded to a 1.8Ghz Centrino
Memory: 2 gigs
Hard drive:This comes with 2: An 80gig 7200rpm and a 160gig 5400rpm. Both drives are installed in caddies so it is a quick change over.
Optical drive: CDRW\DVD
Screen 15" 1400x1050 I believe this is the flexview
Graphics: ATI Radeon 9000
Firewire: yes
Wireless lan: yes
Bluetooth: NO
Docking station: It has 2. I basically used it for quick moving from my office to my home.
Battery: It holds a charge for almost an hour.
AC adapter: There are 2: One is for the laptop and docking station, and the other one has the type of plug that only fits the 2nd docking station.

This was used as a portable photo editing/office program/internet go between my office and home. And at home it was my "reading material" for those extended throne sessions.

Condition wise it is quite clean. The keys are not smudged or rubbed. Again I can provide more detailed photos on request.
If anyone wants specific model/parts info (factory numbers, etc.) email or pm me and I will get that out.

I am not sure what market value is on this since R51 prices are all over the place on Ebay/Craigslist/forums/etc. so I am going to toss out an asking price of $400 for the whole kit and kaboodle. I know that is on the high end of what I have seen. Then again, none of the models I saw were equipped as well as this one.

So if I am nuts, let me know.

Shipping wise I still have the warranty container from it's last service (Feb 08) through IBM. Just the general once over/cleaning before the warranty expired. So the laptop will ship in that and the remaining items will ship in another box.

If anyone is curious as for the reason of selling, well I just don't use it as much as I used to. And it is getting a bit slow in the photo field editing area now that I am trying to process 14 meg RAW files from my K20d.

Also I was wondering if any of the new Thinkpads still use the Flexview screen? While this unit may be getting on in age, it absolutely smokes your average Big Box laptop models in the screen department. Frankly if I could find a way to speed this thing up, I would probably hang onto it. But since I am pretty much maxed in all areas (I think the CPU could bu upped to 2.0Ghz, but how much gain would I get from that?) and I don't want to think about shelling out $$$$ for a PATA SSD I think I am at the end of the road for use. Then again it still works fine in the throne room.

While I don't have any post count on this forum to speak of, I do have a perfect record on Ebay under the username Riktar, and my Amazon account is perfect as well. Frankly the reason I have not posted any questions of worth on this board is from the fact that the search function has answered all my questions about this laptop.

Thanks for reading this whole drawn out ad.

I'd say no, not nuts.

Anyway, the package may be worth $400, but you'll have to find the right buyer. Certainly, the parts are worth that much.

I'd list it as a complete package for a couple of weeks. If it doesn't sell, then I'd part it out, perhaps putting the 1.6 cpu back in with a smaller drive, like a 40GB and less memory. You could then sell the high end parts, 80GB 72K, 160GB 54K, 2GB RAM, 1.8GHz Dothan, separately, and one complete machine for around $200-$250.

I think the 80GB drive will go for over $100.

Good luck.

That's my suggestion.

Thanks for the tip. I do in fact still have the original 40 (Good guess!) gig drive as well as the i.6 Centrino sitting on the shelf.

That may be the way to go.
