Feeler: T43

I'm curious as to the value of my T43:

P M 760(2.0GHz)
1.5GB RAM
80GB HD TravelStar
14.1in 1400x1050 LCD
64MB ATI Radeon X300
Slim Drive DVD-RW
Intel 802.11abg wireless
Bluetooth
1Gb Ethernet
UltraNav
Secure Chip
Fingerprint Reader
9c Li-Ion batt (9 cycles)
WinXP Pro COA

The rub: it needs the GPU reball. It works without issue 99 percent of the time (it's my main PC right now, I use it many hours a day, everyday, typing on it now) but occasionally it hangs. Especially if it's been moved or jostled. It takes a hard press on the case under the space bar to unfreeze, which it always does immediately.

I'm itching to buy a T400s and am curious as to what I can get for this old girl.

Edit: I should mention the screen is bright, blemish free, the case clean, in like-new condition. No cracks, keyboard shine, etc.

Thanks,

Mike

Well, I know of at least one online reseller that has a similar T43 (512MB instead of 1.5GB RAM) for $200 with 15 day warranty. I would think you could expect to get less for yours because of the GPU issue.

Forum rules require posting a price with an ad. You can post any price you like OBO, and someone will likely make you an offer.

As to what it's worth, it's worth what someone is prepared to pay you for it.

My advice-and I sell a lot of T43/p machines in all forms and shapes-would be to part it out. You'll likely yield close to $200 without much effort.

Part it out is good advice, ballpark prices below - $400+ OR since it does have nice parts and is in good condition, maybe $250 for the whole unit? Parting it out and dealing with many buyers is work, but you get a maximum return on the machine. Time vs. money.

$30 - P M 760(2.0GHz)
$15 - 1.5GB RAM
$50 (if 5400rpm) or $100 (if 7200rpm) - 80GB HD TravelStar
$100 - 14.1in 1400x1050 LCD
$25 - bad GPU 64MB ATI Radeon X300 w/chassis
$20 - long CPU/GPU fan
$40 - Slim Drive DVD-RW
$10 - Intel 802.11abg wireless
$10 - Bluetooth
$15 - Fingerprint Reader palmrest
$20 - Keyboard
$10 - HDD caddy/cover/screws
$75 - 9c Li-Ion batt (9 cycles)
$10 - AC adapter

Having read the description more carefully (was in a rush the first time around... ), Ed's (underclocker) estimate is closer to the true value than mine was...even more reason for you to grab a screwdriver and start parting this baby out...

Thanks for all the advice, guys.

I'm all for anything that involves a screwdriver and taking something apart.

Well, once you pull it apart, let us know. I might be interested in a couple of bits and pieces myself...

Good luck.

I don't think it's a GPU problem, but rather a loose Southbridge.
Can be reballed for $45.-

Did I say $100 for the LCD assembly?! Oh, I meant $50! Well...I mean I'd love it for $50. Alright, if you decide to part it out, just post the prices, those are some nice parts.
