Looking to Buy: T30.

#1 Post by tylerwylie » Thu Sep 10, 2009 12:36 am

I am looking to buy a decent conditioned T30 to run specific software on Windows XP that requires a serial port. Any resolution is okay, 512 RAM required, and I'd like the battery to last at least 30 minutes. Decent HD, and a working CDROM drive needed too.

Looking to pay through Paypal or credit card/check.

Thanks

If you're willing to consider notebooks outside of ThinkPads and want a little better performance, I think the Dell D620/D630 was the last mainstream notebook offered with a serial port. The D620s had terrible screens. You might want to look at the D630, which probably don't cost much more. I don't have a T30 to sell you, but good luck.

I have coworkers who use those laptops, they're nice indeed for having a serial port, however this is a limited scope job, this laptop just needs to run one application, and doesn't require too much processing power. This is going to be mounted in my car for running HPTuners, and that's about all it's going to do ;).

Thanks for the recommendation, if I can come across one at a great price I'll have to check it out, but for now... T30's seem perfect :).
