WTB: 14.1" 4:3 SXGA+ T60 LCD
WTB: 14.1" 4:3 SXGA+ T60 LCD
Hi everyone, this is my first WTB here so I hope I do this right.
Edit: I'm looking for a 42T0373 / LTD141EN9B, or any IBM compatible screen.
A+ through B condition (minor flaws that require some strange viewing angle to see, or moderately uneven lighting) is fine. Looking to spend about $100 shipped considering I can get a brand new one on ebay for $120 + shipping.

You can buy just the LCD if you want to do the swap your self. It should be a straight swap. Consult the hardware maintenance manual, and the service and support training website to figure how to do it. The part numbers are:
Samsung 13N7059
TMD 13N7063
BOE-Hydis 13N7061
You might want to post over the Marketplace forum to see if anyone has an extra screen. Otherwise you can search on eBay using the part numbers. Good Luck.

The swap itself is easy enough to do, but I thought you couldn't just swap out an SXGA+ panel for an XGA panel, I had the impression that the cable needed to be changed too. If not then yeah I'll just go grab the panel and swap it out.
Re: WTB: 14.1" 4:3 SXGA+ T60 LCD
I just did such a swap in my R60. Thanks to advice from forum members including FredGavin. Nothing else was required. All you need is the panel. I ended up with the TMD version. Contrast is pretty bad.
Current Thinkpads: 600E, 600X, 701C, A31 (Flexview), R51 (Flexview), R60, T42P (Flexview), TR50E, T60 (Flexview), X61s (Ultralight), Z61m (Ti) Non-Thinkpad: Toshiba 100ct
Re: WTB: 14.1" 4:3 SXGA+ T60 LCD
I believe you can reuse the cable. There are two cables. The resolution doesn't matter. There's one with and one without bluetooth. I would assume you'd keep it the same. You can look on the service parts page yourself if you like.

Re: WTB: 14.1" 4:3 SXGA+ T60 LCD
I did the exact same upgrade in my T60 (see sig.). Different cables were required in T4x series but in a T60, all you need to swap is the panel itself. What's important is that it HAS to be a T60 panel. So for example a panel from T4x won't work.
Also, there were no 14.1" T60 Flexview displays, only 15".
The HMM lists two different cables for a 14.1" T60 because one has a Bluetooth daughter card connector soldered on and the other doesn't. So a different cable is required if you want to add Bluetooth to a T60 that came without one. Aside from the missing connector, both cables are exactly the same. I did add Bluetooth to my T60 but to lower the cost, I soldered the daughter card connector myself.

Cool, I guess I'll just see which 14.1 seems to get the best reviews from forums members and then I'll pick a specific one to buy.

Re: WTB: 14.1" 4:3 SXGA+ T60 LCD
Hi,
Just wondering if I can do the same to my 15' T60 as well. I have a T60 with XGA LCD (Intel Graphics). The machine itself is fantastic but the resolution is a little too low for me. Is it just a simple upgrade (LCD replacement) to get it to SXGA+ or even UXGA?

Re: WTB: 14.1" 4:3 SXGA+ T60 LCD
Looks like the SXGA and UXGA screens use a different inverter, but the cable should be the same. In theory it should work, even if you've got the Intel GPU, but I've never done it myself on a T60.

Re: WTB: 14.1" 4:3 SXGA+ T60 LCD
A 15" T60 is a bit different as both the SXGA+ and UXGA displays were IPS Flexview as opposed to a TN XGA one. This is most probably the reason why you will need to switch the inverter besides the display itself.
The GMA950 handles SXGA+ resolution in my 14.1" T60 without issues so I see no reason why it wouldn't on a 15" model. As far as the graphics chip is concerned, TN vs IPS should make no difference.
In theory at least, never done this myself.

I've got a 15" R60e right now. It's got the Intel card. I swapped in a SXGA+ FlexView no problem. I would think the same of the T60 if you swap the inverter too.

Bit of an update, looking for a 42T0373 panel.
