A much loved and upgraded T23 for sale. (and a 7k60!)

#1 Post by lithium726 » Fri Sep 11, 2009 6:25 pm

Hello all,

It is with a heavy heart that I have decided to sell my beloved T23. It was the first notebook I ever purchased, about 7 years ago, and got me started on thinkpads. I'm getting ready to move and since there is simply no reason for me to have it anymore, I have decided to sell it. So, here goes the description.

It started life as a 2613-PU7. Everything that can be upgraded was, and here is the spec of it right now:

1.2Ghz P3-m
512mb RAM
40GB, 5400rpm hitachi drive
14.1" XGA panel
NMB Keyboard
DVD-ROM
Internal WIFI (with original 802.11b/modem card)

Mechanically, it's sound. There is not a single problem with it's operation other than a shot battery. It's got a couple cosmetic issues, which are:

The right hand screen latch is broken, the left still works and keeps the screen down.
The all common keyboard-bezel crack on the left hand side is present, and there is a little crack below the arrow keys.
The RAM and ethernet/wifi/modem doors are peeling paint

The lid has been replaced with a new unit and is in great condition with a few scratches and glossy corners. You're not going to find a better looking lid on a machine this old.

The hinges are still tight.

It will come with an install of Windows XP Home, unless the buyer wants me to take it off. The COA has since fallen off, but I still have the code and it's legit.

I have a few things for it that a potential buyer may be interested in:
all of this is also avaliable for sale seperatly.

An Intel 2915 A/B/G internal WIFI card. I haven't used a modem since 1999, so it was unnecessary and I wanted -G operation. It is Dell branded but will work on any machine with a BIOS hack or prior to the T30. It works just fine in the T23. $15.

A Sony DVD+-RW drive. It will work with any regular-ultrabay machine, provided you take the ultrabay caddy off your old drive. $45

A Hitachi Travelstar 7k60 60GB, 7200RPM ATA drive. This thing made the T23 fly paired with 1GB of RAM. If it doesn't go on here it will be put on ebay shortly. $65

I'm looking for $150 Shipped. If you have an offer, please PM me. The worst I can do is say no.

2613-PU7 does not exist, not even in your wildest imagination...

WOW, sorry, I mixed up the type of my T60 and the model of a T40 and came up with that. It's a 2648-PS1. I should've checked, my bad.
