Why is it that there always seems to be a shortage of these?!? Is there a Hard Drive Cover eating Monster on the loose, that I am not aware of?!? Sheesh LOL

I noticed that too. I think that ppl like to do fixer-uppers here and those are usually barebones.

Sorry to bust the humorous bubble here, but the main cause of this issue is sheer laziness on the part of people who dispose of IT equipment...
Most corporations that donate the machines or have them liquidated insist on hard drives being physically destroyed beforehand. It's a lot easier to pull out the entire contraption-drive, caddy, cover-and just toss it into a crusher, especially when you're disposing of hundreds of units at the time. And yes, I've seen it done with my own eyes. Not a pretty sight, let alone the sound....

I once was parked near a bank and watched as a teller came out carrying a desktop. He walked down the length of the building toward a garbage dumpster. He then proceeded to throw that desktop down and pulverize it whatever way he could. I'm sitting there like, "Wow. What a nice way to release some pent up anger!" He smashed that thing until there was just twisted metal and shards of black plastic. I guess that's how that bank handles it's desktop disposal!
