This is (if I'm not mistaken) the first series Thinkpad with the thinklight and was at the time considered the best value thinkpad on the market. It's the i1400 series (not the ones based off the 390's) These were a completely different design.
Here are the original specs http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Category:I1482
I owned one of these new and I think the max ram was 512, (I don't know if I ever tried more, unfortunelty I don't have any 100MHz 512MB SIMMS to test it out with) it ran XP fine but that was before all those service packs and stuff.
This one belonged to my buddy, it sat on his entertainment center and streamed the MP3's to his patio for years.
It has a 30GB HDD and 256MB of ram.
There are a few cracks in the bottom of the base, and back of the base near the hinges and the button for the battery release is gone but the latch still works, the battery is dead anyway. (the HDD cover is a bit loose too but only if you jiggle it)
Basically it's an older model that saw some use but would be fine sitting on a desk for the rest of it's life.
Per forum rules since this model was too old to have a COA no OS will be loaded but I did take a set of T23 Win2k recovery CD's and they installed everything, no additional drivers needed. 8)
Asking $100.00 plus acual shipping. (I have a good two+ hours into loading it and testing it and playing around and running all the Win2k updades that will have to be erased if I sell it) :? Heck it's a nice machine still, I have a Cisco 802.11b wireless card and a 3com X jack NIC card that will also go with it.

As always 100% money back if your not satisfied. (just don't expect too much LOL) This laptop looks pristine from the top the cracks are all on the bottom and back. The hinges are still tight.

PS
I think I ran out of room on the last post, one point I'd like to add. The think wiki is sorta wrong, the DVD is removable, I found a combodrive (it came out of a Compaq I stripped back in the day) that the doors interchanged and therefore had a DVD-CDRW in my 1482. HTH
