In my experience, the covers do not fail, but the pins attached to the case break off. You're lucky if the doors themselves failed.

You're right, the pins have broken on one side. They are shorter.

I am still looking for an ultraslimbay HDD adaptor. There are a few on Ebay USA but postage to the UK is around $30.
