Hi, I’ve been lurking around this forum for a week or so and I’ve noticed that you people are nice. I'm currently attending college and I recently thought about buying a refurbished laptop. After doing some research, I decided to buy a ThinkPad since they seem to have a good reputation. I'm looking for a good deal on a T23 since I’m on a tight budget.
I only need the following:
CPU: 1.13 GHz?
RAM: I don't mind 128 MB of ram if the entire system is at a good price. But i would prefer at least 256 MB.
HD: 30 GB? Again, I don't mind 20 GB if the system is cheap.
OS: I don't really care since I’m going to install Linux on it.
Battery: I would like a good or working battery.
Cosmetic Condition: I understand that a refurbished system may not always look nice, but i would like it to have no cracks. Of course wouldn't mind if the system is cheap.
LCD screen: I would prefer if it didn't have any dead pixels since I plan to use it for a while.
Extras:
I don't mind if it doesn't have a floppy drive or a DVD drive but I would like to have at least a CD-Rom drive.
Thank You for reading this post.

Contact Len at AbsoluteRaleigh. PM me if you can't find his ID here with info. He has several T23's now and offered me a great deal on them. I'm sure he'd do the same for other visitors of this forum.

I used credit card on PayPal. Should be good. Will post results when I receive it. Or NOT!

I did a little more research. Looked on Ebay for similar T23s. And low and behold, found the identical laptop with the same picture. Auction had closed the same day, my seller listed the item on Yahoo Auctions. Alarm bells went off. When I emailed the seller who had no Yahoo Rating, inquiring about this discrepancy, he REFUNDED my money immediately. I had stated my concerns about the picture, low price, and was incredulous about being scammed for a lousy $111 including shipping. His reply was: heres your lousy $111.
Now, that really blew me away. I was expecting to have to work hard at getting my money back thru PayPal and my credit card bank.
So, either he legitmately has the items listed on Yahoo for sale and uses other folks pictures and descriptions...and he has a potfull of laptops listed... OR he is an HONEST scammer.
I won't be visiting Yahoo Auctions again. There are just too many suspicious "deals". A great condition T23 for 90 bucks... NO WAY. I knew better and that is why I insisted on using PayPal/creditcard in the first place.
