Got some more of these batteries from the same batch. Same deal. I didn't get any complaints/returns from the ones sold previously so they should be good.

If any previous buyers had any problems at all, please feel free to mention it here.

Shipping update: Each original box with battery is a little over one pound. Its significantly cheaper to repack the contents in a small, flat-rate USPS box. The anti-static bag containing the battery remains sealed and everything fits just fine. This will be the default shipping method the buyer requests otherwise. Total cost for a battery shipped to Canada via this method will be $34. Send me a PM if you want a shipping quote for multiple batteries.

I currently have one installed in my newly built R51E. These are aged batteries, so I ran it down and recharged a few times to see if the original capacity was affected. After six cycles it seems to have stabilized at 46.35Wh out of an original capacity of 47.52Wh. The number has remained unchanged for the last two cycles. My feeling is that this will be typical of all the batteries in the set.

$30 will get you one shipped to a U.S. destination. If you're unhappy with the quality of the battery, let me know within 14 days. I may ask you to send it back before refunding the payment you made to me. I.e. you pay for return shipping. I hate saying this part-- the serial numbers of batteries will be recorded. I've had nothing but good transactions here, and it would be great to keep it that way.

09/30/09 Edit: Another two cycles later and the battery is at 46.04Wh. Maybe not stable yet, but hopefully its on its way there. My return policy still applies if you want to buy one. Will update this post as I get more info.

10/01/09 Edit: Two more cycles last night. Its now at 46.01Wh. I'm going to stop test now. I think this is enough to get a general idea of what battery performance.

From what I see in Power Manager, the manufacturer of the current battery I'm using is Sanyo. Its from the same box.... but I don't know how to tell from the packaging itself.

Do you know how long these batteries will last? I know you have the Wh but I don't really know what that means. I have never owned a new battery and I am searching the forums to see how long a new one would last since this is almost new based on the slightly lower Wh. Sorry if this sounds stupid.

I am in need of four batteries and if they last a decent time I would be interested.

I don't have experience with newly minted T4x batteries either, so hopefully someone else can comment. All the ones I've used have been NOS.

According to IBM the R51E should be able to run up to 3.5 hours on the 6-cell. I'll give you the numbers I see with my current machine. Its similar to the T43 series. R51E with a 2.13Ghz CPU: ATI X200 GPU, 1GB Memory Module, and a 40GB Samsung 5400RPM drive. The CPU was an upgrade. I don't think 2.13Ghz was offered with the R51E, but it was with the T43.

Set to maximum performance in Power Manager and at 100% CPU utilization (running an internet, flash based game), with LCD at maximum, and wireless connected and transmitting, the power meter reads 1hr 30minutes. With machine idle, display turned down, wireless on (but not active), and HDD spinning (but not reading/writing), the gauge shows 3 hours 12 minutes.

Hi virge,

I have received the battery and it seems to work pretty great. It's currently still on 1st charge(from a totally discharged battery), NHC reported the batterys Max Capacity to be 50.32Wh at wear level 0% but further charging seems to hover around 94%(~47.09Wh which was similar to your tests). You also stated in the first post that the they have an original capacity of 47.52Wh so I was wondering if NHC is reporting the numbers wrongly for me.

While I'm very happy with the battery(my current 9cell has like 12Wh), I just wanna know if this is ncommon for NOS batterys. Should I attempt to discharge it for a few cycles?

Thanks for the update and I'm glad the battery made it all the way over there without any hitches. Your battery seems to be operating fine. I would NOT deep discharge it unless necessary. From what I understand, deep discharges are bad for li-ion batteries. I normally wouldn't run mine all the way down except that I wanted some accurate numbers to post.
