Where to get a new custom built T500?

#1 Post by simor » Mon Oct 19, 2009 5:21 pm

Hi,
I'm planning to buy a T500 but as I've lately discovered US lenovo only accepts American Express as international credit cards even though my shipping address was in the US. My Visa was issued in Europe and was declined. I'm trying to see if I can get my bank to change the address on the Visa for one in USA, that belongs to a friend (no, he can't buy the laptop for me) but this will probably fail plus I heard that this won't change anything as lenovo will know that the Visa wasn't issued in the US. The real question is, if anyone knows of a place/way how to get a custom built T500 other than lenovo.com, that would perhaps accept some more paying methods (all Visas, paypal, etc).

I'm no help on the CC issue, but you may wish to consider a pre-configured one. CTO machines from Lenovo's website do not have international warranties. You'd be without a warranty in Kuwait. You also cannot add it at a later date.

Thanks for this info, I wasn't aware about that but I don't know if it changes much for me. I'm planning to replace the HDD with Intel's SSD so that probably voids the warranty plus shipping back to US isn't very expensive ... (knock on wood).

Generally hard drives, memory and wifi cards are considered to be user replaceable on thinkpads, meaning changing them will not void the warranty.
