FS: T60p, 14.1" SXGA+, FireGL V5200, New Batt - LOWER PRICE!

#1 Post by jonberk » Thu Oct 22, 2009 11:22 am

SOLD.

Hi All.

I have a 14.1" T60p that I no longer need after making the switch to a mac (a bit ashamed to admit that). I purchased it for $2359 in August of 06. I plan to wipe the hard drive and restore the system to factory condition using the recovery CD's prior to shipping. Condition is excellent since this was a second computer and only used when away from home. Besides the matte finish on the top cover looking a bit shinny in places, it looks amazing. The keys don't even show normal typing wear. Case has never been opened up and all components are original. The original 9 cell battery will be brand new as I'm receiving a new one due to the recall right now.

Not sure why the screen color looks funny. It looks perfect in person.
The photo shows the old 9-cell battery. I've since received a brand new replacement from Lenovo.

Included:
  • T60p w/ brand new 9-cell battery
  • box, manual, recovery CDs
  • extra 6 cell battery (~200 cycles)
  • extra 90W A/C adapter (2 total)
  • Waterfield sleeve that fits the 6 cell battery
Asking price is now lowered to $625.

Machine Specs:
  • T60p 200783U CORE DUO T2600 2.16 GHZ - 14.1" TFT SXGA+
  • Processor: Core Duo T2600 2.16 GHz
  • Graphics: ATI Mobility FireGL V5200 - 256 MB
  • Display: 14.1" TFT active matrix 1400 x 1050 ( SXGA+ )
  • Ram: 1 GB DDRII SDRAM
  • Hard Drive: 100GB Serial ATA-150 7200 rpm
  • Optical: DVD Writer
  • Wireless a/b/g
  • Bluetooth
  • OS: Windows XP Pro
  • Fingerprint reader

I did some more looking around and it seems like $725 would be more inline with past sales. Does that sound right? I'm assuming $675 for the laptop and an extra $50 since it comes with an extra brand new lenovo 9-cell battery.

Would I be better off selling the new 9-cell battery and extra A/C adapter separately? I'd really appreciate some feedback from members who are more familiar with this than I am. Thanks!

Had you sold the unit without the battery the new owner would have got the new battery for free due to the recall so it doesn't seem particularly fair to charge extra for it. Good luck though. I'd love to have one if these with the Flexview screen.

Proaudioguy,
My mistake for not explaining clearly. I have a 6-cell battery (~205 cycles) and the brand new 9-cell (0 cycles). So there are two batteries included and one is brand new.

I was thinking that the extra battery (6-cell) adds some value and the fact that the replacement 9-cell is brand new adds even more value. Does that sound more reasonable now or am I still missing your point?

OK so you purchased the computer with the 6 cell and bought the 9 cell later (and that was recalled) so it's not really part of the deal. I don't think you could sell either the 9 cell or the 6 cell alone for $50. but I might be wrong. If you wanted to split them up, keep the 6 cell with the laptop and sell the 9 cell on it's own. I have no idea what the machine is worth. It doesn't appear to be a flexview. Can you confirm?

If it's a 14" LCD it can't possibly be a FlexView.

You are correct. It's not a FlexView (no 14" flexViews). The screen is the higher resolution version though:

14.1" TFT active matrix 1400 x 1050 ( SXGA+)

I did some more thinking about this and decided it would make the most sense to lower the price to $625. I'd like to see it go to someone who will get good use out of it.

What did you mean Recall? Is that some Free battery replacement? Under what condition? How do I check for it on my laptop / battery?

The recall was a few years ago. Here's a link to info on Lenovo's site about it and the process to check you battery:

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... ATT-LENOVO

You essentially download an executable and it checks if your battery was part of the recall. If so, it directs you to a web form to fill out. It's pretty simple and certainly worth checking.
