Wait.... you expecte the good people on this list to pay above ebay price(which you are aparently willing to sell at). Realize with ebay you are also going to loose commission and fees.

I'd expect a good list member to give ebay price or ebay price minus fees.

I bought my T30 almost a year ago, with ON-SITE warranty service for $769.00 including shipping. I don't know where you've seen them for $1,000.00.

Not without an SXGA+ display and WiFi they're not!

Don't confuse an asking price on eBay for what an item is actually selling for, always check the completed sales.

No offense meant and I sincerely hope you get your price on eBay, makes mine worth more!

I did my home work and the stock T30 like mine: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 94957&rd=1 seems to confirm it. Note this doesn't have a 60GB drive (or a dvd/CDRW?). eBay is a sellers market these days though for things like this..

BTW mine has 1 yr warranty remaining. Call me if you need the serial number to verify. No dead pixels, non-DOA, no strings attached. If anyone would consider $850 here, I think it would be a fair deal. Admitedlly, 1k was a high starting price ( I was looking at t30s in general). But then again if I can get something like that on eBay I'll go for it since I just bought a new round of toys .

No offense meant, seroiusly!

Here's a similar machine: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 68075&rd=1

Or: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 24896&rd=1

Then there's: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 22171&rd=1

Which blows the bottom out of the market!

Just trying to share why I think you're not getting many serious tire kickers here in the Forums.

James

I hate to ramble but the 3rd one looks like a freak auction, the 2nd one looks like it is in bad condition (the cover) and the first one is $10 more than I am now offering it and has less (not including shipping). Not to mention warranty status and no-DOA? I think $850 is a deal for this machine considering how much I put into it. I am also including shipping... If users of this forum do not agree, I will simply sell it elsewhere as it is worth that. Also this laptop is probably on par with new machines in the $600-$800 range, and you get IBM quality. This was simply an ad, if you don't want it don't buy it. It's not a deal unless both parties walk away with a smile on their face.

Now all you need to do is update your location in your profile!

This is a very nice T30 model BTW.

Ok, I've update my profile.

The problem is that there is:

Yes it is a nice one.

But IBM is selling a 5 T30's from $ 743 to $849.
Also 3 T40's from $ 913 to $956
(these are used)

I also know of a T20 for $400.

I'm probably not going to get anything as I've been
spinning my wheels on this for the last couple of weeks.

I suspect I'm guilty of wanting a "trophy" laptop to sit in
my closet waiting to be used on trips.

Lord knows I ahev enough PCs staring at me in the face.

Still, it would be handy in my observatory.

Of course if I replace my Dell P4 1.7G with it, I'll probably save a lot of money on power.

Dedicate a desktop to live in the observatory.

LCDs aren't happy living and working in unheated spaces, especially in the winter.

CRTs don't care as they're basically internally heated.

Actually the laptop would go into the observatory and connect to the control computer via wifi.

The laptop would NOT stay in the observatory.

It's a pretty hostile environment out there, with -20F to +140F, not to mention lightning strikes and mice.

I ended up getting a stripped T40 on ebay.
