FREE for postage: virtually dead battery for T40-T43,R50-R52
There are only three watt hours left in this battery (FRU 92P1011). I used it for backup power in case electric flickered but it has since been replaced.
Wanted to try re-celling it but simply don't have the time. Thought someone here may want to give re-celling a try or simply want a battery for backup.
If interested please PM. Postage should be around $5 for USPS Priority Mail in continental US.

Did you have any luck with this? I have several batteries that I'm happy sending off to someone who wants to mess with them. Some T60, Some T40, Some R50, and one X60/61. Sorry to tag along, but I figured whoever takes yours FIRST may want mine as well.sojourner wrote:There are only three watt hours left in this battery (FRU 92P1011). No problem, and no takers! I figure people are sooo busy now-a-days. If no takers by week end it's off to Lowes to drop in their battery recycle boxtgrevers wrote:Did you have any luck with this? The long batteries like these are very easy to re-cell. I did a couple of A31's that were in the same lay out. the last one, beginning to end, was well under 1 hour. Starting with cutting it open, to finishing it up with glue as a sealer. A nightmare is the T2X/T30, way to crooked for everywhere the current must flow.

I have at T43 that could use a battery. What would I have to do with it? Never done this re-celling.

Some patience, a soldering iron, a little creative thinking and something like this
http://www.all-battery.com/4li-ion18500 ... htabs.aspx
I use a a multi-tool screw driver to slow "scrape" the seams open.
Once open, carefully untape the sensors that are fastened to the batteries. Normally there are two on the top side that I think measure temperature. Using the tabs on the new batteries, re-layout the electrical paths to match the original. Solder and then double check all the connections prior to stuffing it back into the original housing. At this point I black electrical tape the assembly back together in 2 or 3 spots. Reinstall in the laptop and watch them like a hawk, checking every 15 mins for at least the first 2 hours to make sure they are not over heating as they charge. It will take up to 10 full charges and discharges to reach full potential. On the A31p's even with as big a battery hog as they are, I can get 1.25 hours from the 2200mAh version of this sized battery. Leaving the tape in place for the time being, I 15 min epoxy the 2 haves back together, then remove the tape and fill the places where the tape was. If the clearish color of the epoxy bothers you, dont fill it level then go back in with black RTV and fill the depression in. Keep in mind, you really dont save a bunch of money doing it this way, unless you need several. A I did 3 at the same time, so it was worth it.
