I am the proud owner of a T400 purchased less than three months earlier with Vista Ultimate. I recieved the free upgrade to Windows 7, but I would have preferred that Lenovo sent me a full recovery set. I am one of the oddballs that actually likes the features included with the Lenovo preload. Lenovo is giving me the runaround purchasing the part, so if anyone here can get their hands on "Thinkpad T400 Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit Restore Disks - IBM FRU P/N 58Y3288", I will make it worth your trouble. $$$

As I said, I have a legit COA. I just want a genuine Lenovo preload, rather than an upgrade with it's quirks. I have no problem getting the 32bit version of these disks, but I prefer 64 to fully recognize my RAM.

My T400 is model 2764-CTO

You should be able to do a fresh install with your W7 upgrade disk. Just select advanced mode instead of upgrade mode in the beginning of setup.

And when the installation is done, go to http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... PDATE.html and download System Update (I recommend checking the 'make a shortcut in start menu' box). After a restart you just run Lenovo System Update (not Windows Update) and you can download all the Lenovo software you want. It's exactly the same as when installed with preload disks just the drivers and software are more up to date.

They are not quite the same, as this will not give me the Lenovo Enhanced Experience, the service partition, and all the other non-lenovo software that comes with the factory installation. That is what I am looking for. Thanks, though. :)
