Lots of great deals in the Lenovo outlet!!!

#1 Post by sktn77a » Thu Feb 18, 2010 10:30 pm

Hi there:

Just browsing the Lenovo Outlet site and they have some fantastic deals on scratch and dent items - batteries, port replicators, AC adapters. Half the price of ebay!

Well, the site was having problem and was going up and down. There must be some dealers that constantly hog the site cause now I just checked, most of the batteries for recent TPs are gone. I am sure that a lot of other good stuff are snapped up by dealers too.

It has been a long time since Lenovo had replenished that many items in the outlet and a shame to see them being snapped up for additional profits.

Yeah, seems so. I just checked too and got some crazy errors on that site.

Why do you assume that it's dealers? That discount is posted all over the major deals websites, and there are probably thousands of people trying to get in on the action.

Not all of them, but majority most definitely are. You'll see these machines - with a nice markup - on fleabay a couple of weeks from now.

Personally, I don't sell stuff that I can't stand behind so I'm just watching and laughing...

I'm just flabbergasted by the prices on some of the items! I sure wish I had the extra money. I would have snagged two T-series Thinkpads and an S10 for a family member!

How often does a sale like this come up in outlet?

There are over 60 X200 9-cell battery for $45 before coupon, and $38 after coupon including tax & shipping. Probably won't be all gone any time soon.

In my experience this particular Outlet sale offers the deepest discounts in quite some time. Thus the servers are overwhelmed...ha..ha...
I got thru successfully on Friday, but since then everytime I try the sites down.

yeah, the outlet sure got cleaned out on the stuff i was tracking(W500/W700 + accessories).

Glad I got the heads up early from this forum; got a few goodies before things bogged down and sold out.

Quick question. Has anyone received any shipping confirmation, charges to their credit card or their purchased item after buying anything from the Lenovo outlet during their sale from 02/18-02/21/10?

I bought two items (I think I did) and received an order confirmation via email. But since then, no communications, no charge to the credit card, zip, nada, nothing. Sent them an email requesting a status, but no response.

Am I the only one? Any suggestions?

I'm pretty sure that your credit card is not charged until your purchase ships -- I just ordered from Lenovo (not the Outlet because I couldn't get through the crush) and I also received Lenovo order confirmation. I paid using my PayPal account, and PayPal shows my order details with the notation, "pending" -- someone with more experience ordering from Lenovo can probably nail this down, but I'm expecting my credit card to be charged when machine ships.

I, too, am waiting for charges to appear on my ccard and a shipping notice to head my way.

Guess they're backed up more than usual, which I can see, considering how much they got cleaned out on the 20% sale.

Ordered two adapters/chargers and a battery for a W700.

Yes, your Paypal account will be charged when the machine (or parts/accessories) ships.

Just got an email from the outlet saying my order is finally in processing(3/3/10). Shows estimated ship date of 3/16/10). UPS ground.

Guess they really are jammed up and behind.

Thanks, folks, for the good responses.

Just received an email response to my order inquiry that stated "Due to tremendous response to our Outlet Sale we have experienced some server issues. We had an overwhelming increase in orders and are working nonstop to get them processed and shipped out ASAP. As the orders are processed you will be receiving a confirmation email from Lenovo, with all necessary order information. We anticipate that your Outlet Order will be processed within 10-14 days of order date."

Let's hope that us little folks that ordered one of this and one of that and two of that over there receive our shipment soon.

What a good sale it was. Thanks for the heads-up at the beginning of the sale.

I bought 8 A/C adapters described as 90W adapters for ThinkPads and Lenovo 3000 machines. I received 8 90W adapters for certain Ideapad machines, which are 19-volt 4.76-amp adapters with an entirely different plug. It took about 30 minutes on the phone with a "let me talk to your supervisor" to be able to return them.

I saw a blurb somewhere today mentioning that Lenovo laid off 30 workers from their U.S. headquarters today, so I'd say it's a safe bet they're short staffed, overworked and way behind...typical corp. setup here, "Do more for/with less".

Fortunately, due to postings on this forum, etc., I didn't have fast expectations on getting the goodies; mainly just interested in whether the order gets processed(which it is).

T400 ordered from the Outlet early Sat morning 2/20 shipped on 3/3 (estimated ship date had been 3/8).
T400 Arrived 3/8 - Refurbed - only the sticker on the underside gives away that it's refurbed - perfect.

Batteries ordered Fri 2/19, just hours before the 20% off coupon went active has an estimated ship date of 3/9.
Update: Shipped 3/4

Must be picking up the pace; just got an email that my goody bag has SHIPPED. They also just hit my credit card.

All in all, great deal. Expectations were certainly met, as I figured going in that it was gonna take several weeks for this to wrap up.

Part of Lenovo's 'image' is due to them not setting expectations very well. If people thought in terms of weeks vs. days, they'd probably go easier on Lenovo. However, the only reason I expected a long delay was cuz of complaints posted in this forum.

It should be days. We're talking in-stock items, here. Much smaller companies seem to manage. The ship time for outlet items is completely unacceptable.

Just received my shipment today. After the shipping notification email, shipment was received two days later (North Carolina to West Tennessee).

Both items were 'scratch and dent' but each looked brand new.

One item was an ultrabay battery for my T60p - how does an ultrabay battery become scratch and dent? If it was a return, it would be 'refurbished' or 'redistristributed' or similar. But scratch and dent? Did someone drop it at the warehouse? It is now charging. If any problems, I'll report back.

This is not just an outlet issue but a common example of the way Lenovo operates. I've never been able to determine why they are so prone to errors, poor communications, and seem to have such a problem getting it together. If not for their size, and demand for product, I wonder how long they would survive. Their level of disorganization is costing them millions of dollars. Simply amazing.

could it be that the disorganization and apparent ineptitude were included in the purchase of the PCD from IBM..?
