Any interest in an upgraded Thinkpad 380z?

#1 Post by cogitordi » Sun Feb 21, 2010 3:12 pm

Need to make space -- is anyone here in ThinkPadland interested in a perfectly functioning and upgraded 380z?
- 160MB RAM (YES!)
- 30GB hard disk
- Pentium II 400 MHz CPU (http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Intel_Mobile_Pentium_II)
- ThinkPad port replicator with network port (http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/ThinkPad_ ... d_EtherJet)

Here's a link to the general ThinkWiki page:
http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Category:380Z

Comes with AC power brick, of course. The battery does not hold a charge... no need to ship it.

I'm the original owner of this 380z. It's been well treated and the screen is flawless. I upgraded the hard disk, RAM and CPU myself. It has M-Windows XP sp3 on it but I will wipe the disk (and leave the partitions).

This ThinkPad has a comfortable keyboard and is good for making documents and spreadsheets, e-mail, and Web-surfing. (Except Flash... but given what's on the Web in Flash, maybe this isn't a bad thing. I use Flashblock in Firefox anyway.)

Send a message if you are interested. I know I can't ask much for it -- I'd sell the whole kit for $40. It's been a reliable machine for me for over a decade and I'd be happy to see it go to an appreciative home in Thinkpadland.

Merci, Doc! Comment va l'hiver à Laval?

Some people have asked for pictures of the 380z. Here are pictures of the 380z browsing this site, of the keyboard, and of the System Properties.

M-Windows reports 397MHz and 160MB RAM. The CPU is a PII at 400MHz and the actual amount of RAM reported by BIOS is 162MB. Please don't ask me to explain. (o;

I sold my 380D with W98 in very good condition for $80.00 with Buy it Now on eBay
three years ago. It was only 10 years old then. Hope it helps.

My 380Z was an ebay find for $16 shipped complete last Sept.

Still $40 is a decent price.

Great price! Isn't that EDO memory in there? That 128MB module is worth the price alone...

Pas mal du tout, content de voir d'autre gens qui parlent français !

C'est normal que le BIOS baisse très légèrement ma fréquence (la mienne est listée @ 1497MHz) mais je ne saurais dire pour la RAM... c'est curieux !
