I'm looking for a replacement motherboard for my T42p. I plugged in an iPod Shuffle and the laptop went down immediately. It must have got shocked pretty bad because it does not power up all and doesn't show any lights or any signs of life.

The model number is 2373-Q1U.

Thanks for any pointers to where I can get a replacement board.

This happened to me once before; I thought the board was fried but it wasn't. I can't remember exactly, you'll have to search to confirm, but try holding down the power button for about 20 seconds or so and see what happens.

Check the fuse on the mobo before you call it dead. Search the T4x forums here for instructions.

I'll follow this route and see if I can rule out if any of the fuses are bad or not. That would be nice if it was a fuse that was the problem.

I've got about 1/2 the laptop torn down and I'm at the step of removing the heat sink and fan from the CPU. Do you know if I need to do this in order to get the motherboard out? I'd rather not have to and go through the trouble of re-adhering it to the CPU again if I don't need to just to check the fuses.

Thanks,
Bill
