Re: Great deal on x60's
These X60s were almost a lottery. I got 2 AC adapters, one IBM mouse, one HP mouse, an IBM keyboard, an HP laptop bag, Ultrabase with multi-burner, and a DC power adapter. It has one stuck pixel on black backgrounds. The warranty expired one month ago (Darnit)
For some reason, I had it in my head that it came with 2GB memory instead of 1GB. I swapped my X60t drive in and was like "Man, Vista runs like garbage on this one". Oops.
Overall, this is an even better buy than I expected.

Re: Great deal on x60's
Got my T60 today, not too bad - definitely used, but not abused. I might have a go disassembling it and using my compressor to blow out all the chunks in the keyboard, etc, but the case and screen are in great shape. Battery looks like it might even be pretty good.
Mine included 2 power supplies, dock, keyboard, a travel mouse (w/ PS/2 adapter??), and a regular desktop mouse, and Lenovo case.
And my wife said her old machine was working again today. :-/. Of course!

Re: Great deal on x60's
May be interested. Can you sell me one in the $300-325 range?
I don't need another laptop but at that price then I'll get one just for fun. I'm very serious, but understand if you think that's too low.

They are CLEAN and the two I inspected today looked new.

It seems those are on ebay again from a second-hand seller:

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but it appears the seller has another batch for sale. The terrible thing is that I may buy another one, since I sold the other one I bought.

Re: Great deal on x60's
Out of sheer curiosity, for reliability concerns, would one go with one of his T60 or X60 setups? I'd prefer the small size and weight of the X60, but I'm starting to lean heavily toward ruggedness of the T60. Of course, I'm biased since I've since seen a R50e, X20, and X32 turn into semi-useless bricks for varying reasons...NorrisCell wrote:Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but it appears the seller has another batch for sale. Depends on what you're looking for, of course. Unless you specifically need a better display and graphics card, I would say go with the X60. I've owned both machines and the display is the only big drawback unless you need every ounce of CPU power you can get.

Re: Great deal on x60's
Admittedly, I'm wondering if there's a different in terms of build between both X and T series. Any laptop I buy will probably sit on my lap or table at home as a convenience unit for most of its time until it goes into a messenger bag on a trip. The graphics aren't that big a deal since other than a few downloaded videos and YouTube, a "real" desktop will probably end up doing any heavy lifting.
Re: Great deal on x60's
If you're traveling infrequently with it, I'd go for the T60 for the better resolution and the 14" T60 is still plenty portable.

Re: Great deal on x60's
Grabbed another one of these, since the price dropped. Same as before, X6 base with Multi-burner, IBM mouse, HP mouse, USB keyboard, 60W AC adapter, and a 90W AC adapter. This one actually came with an 8 cell battery, 100% capacity, 50 cycles. No screen defects. Loving using it again

Re: Great deal on x60's - also X41T
They just dropped the price on these from $250 down to $225 (plus $20 shipping) - if it comes with an Utrabase or DVD drive it doesn't seem to list it - just says X60 LAPTOP, MOUSE, AC ADAPTER AND CARRYING CASE.
Not sure why you'd want a mouse if you have the trackpoint but there are 13 left with 5 days still in the listing. Very tempting if I didn't have a spare X60 already sitting on my shelf (waiting as a replacement for when my son's X61s gets stolen at college
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0634305668
They also have 10 X41T tablets with 60GB drive, 1GB RAM, dock, keyboard (?), and case listed for $ 200 + $10 shipping each:
http://cgi.ebay.com/X41-Tablet-Mouse-AC ... 0641475174 The auction doesn't list a dock (and they are selling X4 docks separately I think) but it is shown in the photo.
Not affiliated with the seller in anyway, just passing on a pointer.

Re: Great deal on x60's
Well... I'm going to have to lower that figure somewhat. Last X60 (1707-EY7) I bought off eBay was for $223, shipping included, but not from this particular seller. Came with 2GB of memory (2 x 1GB), a 100GB drive and an Ultrabase with a DVD burner (GSA-4083N). Seems like the prices have come down on X60 systems in the last few months.Back in late February I wrote:I'm hoping that the next batch are at $250.

Re: Great deal on x60's - also X41T
Dang! Price drop after I buy. They aren't listed, that's true. I knew they included one last time I bought one, so I emailed to ask this time. They confirmed that they still had a couple that were included, but they may not have any more. Perhaps that's why they dropped the price further. The Thinkpad mouse is nice to have sometimes, and the laptop bag they included was pretty nice too. I really had no need for a keyboard or the second mouse though.JBuzzard wrote:They just dropped the price on these from $250 down to $225 (plus $20 shipping) - if it comes with an Utrabase or DVD drive it doesn't seem to list it - just says X60 LAPTOP, MOUSE, AC ADAPTER AND CARRYING CASE.

Re: Great deal on x60's
On Tuesday, 9/7, I ordered an x60 from tech.exchange on eBay for 225 + 20 SH. It arrived Thursday, 9/9. The Ad listed: “X60 Ultra mobile Laptop, Mouse, AC Adapter & Carry Case”. I received:
1. an x60 (1707WK5), appears closely, if not exactly, configured to orig specs; with an enhanced 4 cell Sony, from 2006 with 72 cycles, with full charge of 35.64 Wh out of design capacity of 37.44;
2. A Thinkpad travel, optical mouse and a Lenovo desktop optical mouse;
3. An Ultrabase containing a DVDRAM drive, GSA-4083N (no key);
4. A 65W and a 90W AC adapters;
5. An HP desktop multimedia keyboard; and
6. An HP laptop carry case - decent one too.
I updated Windows and used Lenovo’s System Update to install additional items. Ran Thinkvantage Toolbox System Health Test and all components passed.
For US $245.00, I am delighted with the purchase. I bought a new x60s in 2006 (for about $2000), used it every day since for hours. My x60s is in worse condition than the used x60 I just received. I won’t comment on the screen other than to say it is fine and looks like the screen of my x60s (I have never been too aware of the “dead pixel” issue.) My x60s has a small crack under the function key from my carrying it only with my left hand; the x60 has no such crack. The only blemishes I see are 2 small scratches on the ultrabase (at the Kensington lock and at the microphone input) and one dis-coloration on the ultrabase latch. The x60 has some shine on the keys, especially the spacebar, but otherwise is in good to excellent condition. The screen lid has no discernible wear and no scratches. The Windows XP COA is on the bottom. For an off-lease laptop as described by the Ad, this laptop set on a desk way more than it traveled.
I have no connection with the seller.
To tie this post in with the thread, if I didn't get the last one, they still have some with an ultrabase and DVDRAM.

Re: Great deal on x60's
Well I bit the bullet after emailing them to ask if an Ultrabase and DVD drive came with it - they replied that it did (despite no mention in the auction listing) so possibly I only got what I did because I asked. I paid on 9/13 and it arrived on 9/18.
Inside the box, not all that well packaged in some loose peanuts but undamaged was:
- a HP desktop USB keyboard, a Lenovo desktop USB mouse and an IBM travel mouse
- both a Lenovo 90watt and a 65 watt AC adapter
- an IBM top load nylon carrying case
- a X6 Ultrabase with a DVD drive (Matshita UJ-842)
- the X60 (1707-CTO) configured as described with a 100GB drive (Hitachi HTS72101 7200 rpm) and 1GB RAM - it came with a 4 cell battery which is great as I already have plenty of 8-cell ones.
For the condition of the items: the travel mouse was brand new, the desktop keyboard and mouse were used but fine, the AC adapters were a bit more used and the carry case was really quite used but still serviceable. However the X60 and Ultrabase were immaculate - literally a 10 out of 10 - no wear evident anywhere on them, not a hint of shine on the keyboard, not even the slightest wear on the case or plastics of the laptop or Ultrabase. Even the labels were tear and smudge-free. I'd be very surprised if these were ever even issued to anyone. I still need to check the battery but I'm guessing it will have no more than 2 or 3 cycles on it. If only all eBay purchase were this good - the last X60 I bought was described as "like new" and came with a huge AC/DC adapter, a broken corner on the LCD bezel and lots of wear - all for $50 more than this one.
No relationship to the seller - just thought I'd pass this on as you might basically get a brand new X60 + Ultrabase and all the AC adapters you'll need for $245 shipped. Hopefully all of you out in thinkpads.com land will buy the remaining ones they have listed before I break down and order another one for an Xmas gift for someone. Hard to believe you can get this quality for under $250 vs. spending $400 or more on a crappy netbook.
P.S. in the realm of absurd prices on eBay I also just got a X61 SXGA+ tablet for $375 shipped - not a repeatable Buy It Now value like these X60 laptops but it still has over two years of warranty on it and a much better screen. Now I just need to sell a T42p and a X41T I have sitting on the shelf.
UPDATE on 9/22: the battery tuned out to have 72 cycles on it but still almost sall of its design Wh capacity. Also the 1GB RAm was in two 512MB DIMMS which isn't great but still a good value. I'm actually buying another one as a gift for someone.

I also bought one of these X60 thinkpads from the Ebay seller mentioned above. My experience has also been excellent. The thinkpad and ultrabase are mint, came with a HP mouse and Lenovo mouse, two power supplies, a HP PS2 keyboard, and a rather well used, but nice HP laptop bag. Absolutely no issues, I've already updated it to Win 7 Professional. My X31 has been passed on for use at a local museum where I volunteer.
I still just can't quite give up on this T43p though. The screen spoils me.

The UXGA+ IPS Flexview LCD on those is spectacular. Probably the best LCD in the entire Thinkpad line. My A31p's LCD is similar (thanks to George).fredstev wrote:

Re: Great deal on x60's
Got in on 2 of these... They're in ok condition - pretty heavily used but not abused. Really can't complain for the price paid!!!
Re: Great deal on x60's
I just bought a second one - not the mint condition of the first one I got but still barely used, very slight wear on the case corners, barely visible shine on the keyboard, all in all a solid 9 or 9.5 out of 10. LCD is very clear and bright - no hint of yellow or any wear on it (though still one of the worse LCDs I have here as everything else is IPS). It came with the Ultrabase and a DVD Multi but no USB keyboard (thank god) and only one slightly used IBM travel mouse. All packaged in a fair condition IBM top-load carry case.

Re: Great deal on x60's
Yea lower prices for the consumers is a good thing....uzs161 wrote: Ah, you're talking about killing the use "commercial" market...I was thinking more in terms of a private/individual seller. When I buy computer equipment, I just assume that by the time I'm ready to sell I'm not getting anywhere near what I paid for it. Yeah, I can see how companies like this dumping equipment on the market at these prices could hurt businesses like yours but consumers love them.

Seems tech.exchange has some more for $245.. prices gone up? though it doesn't track with the prices in other completed auctions within the last week which sometimes end below 200 dollars, but sometimes iwth more missing bits.
But yea at this point it is several years old, the price should be low. Might even be lower if not for the recession which is probably driving demand of used laptops.
Re: Great deal on x60's
Hi all
I just bought a x60s (wifi,bt,wwan) + docking station + official Microsoft Win Xp sp3 for Refurbished (first time I own those shiny hologramed cdrom) from that seller for 150gbp + 30gbp shipping uk to fr.
The packaging was huge and hugely protected, docking station wrapped into bubble enveloppe, etc etc. Laptop almost mint. Battery seems weird and there some tiny marks on the lcd and the famous crack on the casing around the heatsink but besides that it's a pretty good deal. Suche a good deal that I'm advertising her page since she might have 2 or 3 unit left to sell soon, so you might wanna take a peek from time to time.
