WTB: T23 (I think)
WTB: T23 (I think)
I am in the market for a refurb tp. I was advised that a T23 would be my best bet (I'm currently using my 2nd 600 series, but the screen went out on this and the last 1 I had).
I use my system for about 16 hours a day mostly writing papers, surfing the web, emailing and some Photoshop. I don't really play games except for cards on Yahoo, but I do alot of editing with Photoshop.
I'm on a very tight budget, so would like to get:
CPU: 900 GHz optional
RAM:min 128 MB of ram, but prefer at least 256 MB
HD: min 20 GB but would prefer 30 -40 GB
Drive: dvd or dvdrw not needed, but would be nice
LCD screen: prefer no dead pixels since I plan to use it for a while.
OS: not needed, as I have xp pro
modem: 56K
Battery: working battery. Low charge is ok, as I usually have it plugged in.
Cosmetic Condition: don't care as long as it does not affect the functioning
Warranty: at least 3 months but would prefer a year. I don't use it for travelling, and handle it gently.
Also, if anyone has suggestion on where/who to buy from I'd be grateful.
Thanks in advance

Yes I looked at those on the ibm site, and they are just a slight bit out of my budget by about 10%. Since I'm on a budget, I don't want to pay for extras I do not need such as dvd or os. Can a EPP discount be used for refurb ibm products?
I never really looked at T21 or 22, but will definitely start. I'm not stuck on a series type, as I don't really know the difference between them - I just want something reliable.
$400-$450 is perfect for me. Where are the best places to keep checking? I do not mind eBay, but would only buy from recc./established sellers.
Thanks guys!

T21 for you?
I'd offer my well-cared-for T21.
It's an 800Mhz machine, 384 mb memory, 2-hour charge on the battery and loaded with XP Home. These run faster on Win98 if you want to use it -- I have the original IBM recovery disks, OEM charger and CD-ROM/ floppy swappable drives. No bad pixels, key/trackpoint/cover in very good condition. Asking $350 plus shipping. Maybe no shipping if you're on the East Coast and I can deliver.
Options if you want 'em:
-802.11b wireless card and Orinoco wireless sender unit
-Yamaha F1 CD-RW external, USB w/ all original docs

Wow! That's an AWESOME offer. Thanks so much, but I have to decline as I was lucky enough to get a T23 w/ p3 1.13 ghz/30g/dvd/256mb w/ extenable warranty for $450.
FYI: For anyone looking for a T23, although I did not end up buying from them in the end (no dvd only cdrom), ebay seller odiguys was great to deal with, and they have several off lease T23's still under warranty for sale (cosmetic blemish or minor issue $400 shipped/ unblemished no issues $500 shipped)
Thanks again to all that were kind enough to offer assistance/advice. Can't wait to get my machine!
