FS: Thinkpad X61 SXGA+ (not tablet) 2.5GHz 256GB SSD
I am selling what I think is the ultimate Thinkpad machine. It is an X61 with a custom fitted SXGA+ screen. I have used it for almost a year but need to sell it off because my research institute gave me a brand new WXGA+ X200s and would like to have some cash. I actually broke two newly bought SXGA+ LCDs before finally being able to successfully install the third on this machine and it works like a charm. I used a modified bios for the new SXGA+ screen. More details about fitting an SXGA+ screen on X61 are available in the following thread: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=64002
Main features:
Processor: 2.5GHz Core 2 Duo
Storage: 256 GB G-Monster-V2 SSD (read speeds up to 230 MByte/s and 160 MByte/s write)
Memory: 4 GB
Display: 12.1 inch SXGA+ (1400x1050) IPS
OS: Windows 7 Professional (not activated)
Model: 7675-A69 (Original specifications: http://www-06.ibm.com/jp/pc/notebooks/t ... ml#7675A69)
Bluetooth: Available and working
Wireless: WiFi Link 4965AGN
Battery: 4-Cell Original Lenovo lithium-ion
Condition:
Excellent condition without any chips or dents.
I have posted an ebay listing for this sale: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0426353422
Let me know if you have any questions. I will be happy to answer them here. Thanks!

As per forum rules, you must post an asking price.
A very sweet machine. Good luck with the sale.

Thanks for the reminder
Considering the features, the asking price would be US2200.
Re: FS: Thinkpad X61 SXGA+ (not tablet) 2.5GHz 256GB SSD
A dream laptop, except for the lack of DVI.
I think that the winning bid will be around 1500 USD.
Good luck with the sale !

That last comparison-picture (that you added on eBay), is one more reason NOT to buy any widescreen laptop.
Best of Irish with the sale!

8GB of RAM and a 9cell would make this a dream laptop for me. Good luck in your sale, it's beautiful beast !
Re: FS: Thinkpad X61 SXGA+ (not tablet) 2.5GHz 256GB SSD
satyavel - where did you get a copy of the BIOS marked "x61sxga+"? i can name a handful of people i built systems for and only a couple of them received that specific BIOS. afaik, i didn't build your system.
good luck on the sale either way. if you get your asking price then i may sell mine, too.

Re: FS: Thinkpad X61 SXGA+ (not tablet) 2.5GHz 256GB SSD
Thanks for encouragement
Erik, I got it from the same source as yours. He gave it to me under special circumstance and told me not to distribute the BIOS, and I have kept my promise
BTW for the cable, I successfully used the CABLE FLAT FLEX 20POS 1MM 2" (Digi-Key Part Number WM10007-ND: http://parts.digikey.sg/1/1/178602-cabl ... -0357.html) without any shielding or crimping. It fixes tightly into the socket and you can solder the individual wires quite easily once you cut/separate them using thin scissors. It seems you don't need to use any shielding if the length of the cable is 2".
I agree US2200 maybe a bit too high, but no harm hoping since I spent almost twice as that to get the entire system working

Re: FS: Thinkpad X61 SXGA+ (not tablet) 2.5GHz 256GB SSD
yeah, i spent a LOT of money getting mine to work, too, but it was mostly in equipment to fabricate the cable.
the cable you linked is an interesting idea. if someone contacts me to build another system, i may have to try one of those. thanks!
$2200 is reasonable when compared to an X301. my X61sxga+ weighs only 1.29 kg on a calibrated US Postal Service scale, making it extremely competitive with modern ultraportables (especially with an AFFS display).

The auction has ended with the winning bid at 1088$
A bit cheap for a near-dream ultraportable laptop, IMO.

I have relisted the sale here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0430133179
In the original listing I forgot to mention that the ThinkLight is placed behind the screen because of the screen modification so you won't be able to see the light if you turn it on. I forgot about it because I never use the light, I touch type. The buyer decided not to complete the transaction because of this.
