FOUND: backlight from a T42 or T43 14.1 LCD

#1 Post by scr71822 » Tue Apr 27, 2010 10:36 am

I'm looking for a good bright backlight from a T42 or T43 SXGA, hopefully someone has a broken screen with a good backlight lying around. Hoping to get the light with wires. Pm me if you have one. Sorry I forgot to add that it was 14.1.

I've bought these ccfl tubes before and had excellent results:

Be careful with the Chinese ccfl sellers, I purchased from two different ones and the tubes were so dim they were unusuable.

FYI, it's the screen size that matters (14" vs 15") not the resolution or model.

My soldering skills are how shall we say, BAD. SO I was looking for a 14.1 unit for an SXGA I have with the wires intact.

Have you already removed the old CCFL from your LCD panel? You will find the panel disassembly is a MUCH more difficult job than the soldering. You may want to look to a replacement panel, or even complete lid.
Collection = T500 - R400 - X300 - X200 - T61 (14" WXGA+) - T61 (14.1" SXGA+) - T60 (15" SXGA+) - X40 - T43p - T43 - T42p - A30P - 600E

I've considered it but if I can get the backlight for 10 bucks or less from someones broken panel, I'd like to give it a shot in replaceing it. I've done two others so far and am getting better at it.

If you have a soldering iron, give it a shot. I totally agree with Niel, the soldering is the easy part, the disassembly/reassembly is the hard part.

Significantly more expensive, but you won't have to solder. I've never purchased from this seller, so I can't testify to the quality of the tube.

Shipping cost is absurd.
