FS: Boe Hydis 15" Flexview UXGA LCDs (HV150UX1-100) *SOLD*

#1 Post by JGA » Wed May 19, 2010 8:21 am

FOR SALE: Boe Hydis 15" Flexview LCD panels. Part number HV150UX1-100 (Lenovo FRU number 13N7076). Brand new, Grade A. Upgrade your 15" T60/T60p to 1600x1200 resolution!!

EDIT: I believe that these LCDs will also work in the 15" T42p and T43p, but I'm not familiar with these models. If you want to upgrade from a T42/T43 SXGA+ panel, it appears that you'll need a different LCD cable assembly (91P6858). Upgrading from an XGA panel would require at least a new cable and a new inverter (93P4161). I don't know if their are any BIOS limitations in the T42/T43 that will prevent them from being used with a UXGA panel.

These panels are new, Grade A, and arrived sealed in the original factory cartons. Boe Hydis no longer manufactures this model, so these are new-old-stock manufactured in August 2008. On the side of the carton is the barcode number EGTH088000172. The third letter of the barcode (in this case "T") denotes the grade. Grade A = "T" and Grade B = "Q". Boe Hydis does not use any other grading levels (A+, A1, etc). The original IBM/Lenovo FRU number (13N7076) is printed on the sticker on the back of the panels.

I recently installed one of these panels in my T60p (2613-CTO). I followed the instructions in Lenovo's free training videos...

http://www.lenovoservicetraining.com/io ... index.html

It took me a couple of hours to complete the installation. The entire top assembly (with the hinges) must be removed from the base to swap the panel. The display looks incredible now!! I'm back to a bright screen with fantastic color for photo editing applications. I recommend that you install a new backlight inverter at the same time ($18 from Lenovo), although the inverter is easy to replace in the future without removing the entire panel again.

PRICE: $150 (money order) or $155 (PayPal) which includes shipping within the USA. The panels will be well packed to prevent any damage. The buyer accepts complete responsibility for all installation issues and problems. If you break the panel or your laptop during installation, then I can not do anything to help you.

I haven't posted many times on this forum, but I've been on Ebay since 1998 (100% feedback rating). If you want to check my feedback, my Ebay username is "jeffarnold". If you have any questions, please send me a PM.

Will these work in a T60 that has a 15" 4:3 1400x1050 Flexview in it currently? Do you know how these compare to the 1400x1050 flexview by any chance? (I mean as far as color and brightness...the resolution is self-evident)

Yes, it should be a straight swap on the T60 or R60. I don't think that it's a huge leap, but the LG SXGA+ IPS, which is most likely what you have, are known to dim/yellow more over time. If you want the 1200 vertical resolution, this is the way to go.

Yes. I upgraded my T60's LG/Philips 1400x1050 Flexview panel to the Boe Hydis 1600x1200 panel (I'm typing on the T60 right now). After three years of heavy use, the old panel was getting dim and yellowish, which is why I bought these Boe Hydis panels in the first place.

Full brightness is almost too much now, so I usually use the laptop with the brightness turned down a notch. The color is wonderful for editing photos in Photoshop (and I haven't even color calibrated it yet). The resolution is so high that I had to increase the default font size used for icons and inside the browsers.

he is right about the dimming & yellowing over time, this POS LG/Philips 1400x1050 Flexview panel on my Thinkpad is really dim and really yellowed! :(

Got mine today. The difference is startling. These photos were taken at the same ISO, aperature, and shutter speed, with the same exact white balance, screen set to max brightness in both (ignore the banding in the first photo, that's a camera artifact)

The screen real estate is a big deal too - now the large 15" finally makes sense.
BTW, it's not that there's a strong blue hue to the new one, but that I made that photo look good with the old screen by making it artificially blue.
