SOLD to forum member: Basically, a new T500 with great specifications.

This machine appears to be unused. I bought it as a refurbished unit from a Lenovo reseller. I opened the sealed box and plastic bag the laptop was in. It has a sticker on the bottom that says it was refurbished by Lenovo and the original warranty was terminated, so there is no factory warranty remaining. Again, the machine appears to be in new, perfect condition.

This machine has great specifications (see below) and comes in the original Lenovo box with the original manuals, spare trackpoint caps, etc. Briefly, the spec's include a very high end Core 2 Duo CPU (T9400), a 160GB 7200 rpm drive, 2GB of RAM an internal camera, SD memory card reader, DVD burner, Bluetooth, 2GB of Turbo Memory, ABGN wifi and fingerprint reader. There is only 1 cycle on the battery because I charged it.

Is this unit eligible for a Lenovo extended warranty? Why would refurbishing the unit have invalidated the warranty. Most manufacturers extend a new (if limited) warranty on refurbed units.

I'd say it may be eligible for a post-warranty extension, but that would negate the value of this T500, as post-warranty extensions are expensive (hundreds of dollars).

I think the practice for factory refurbs is for Lenovo to terminate the original warranty and add a three month warranty. I believe (but am not sure) that this machine may have been a customer return and the refurb three month warranty probably expired before the machine was put up for sale.

Bottom line, for the price, this is a great machine, but if you want one with a warranty, a used or new or outlet one is probably the way to go.

This is a mint machine with many great specifications...it would be perfect for someone that doesn't like very high resolutions LCDs. Or for a high resolution LCD, you could always just swap in a WSXGA+ or UXGA panel. This machine will outperform any T60p and can be loaded up with RAM.
