My hard drive failed on a hand-me-down Thinkpad T41. The model is 2378-DHU .. was running XP pro. I do not have the original discs and did not know to make a copy of the recovery CDs from the recovery partition until it was too late. I contacted lenovo but they could not find my model - s/n in their system ... too old they said. Can anyone point me in the right direction .. I have replaced the HD ... but can't seem to find a way to re-install the OS and drivers. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to thinkpads.com!

In the past, some members here have suggested a web site that sells Thinkpad recovery disks for around $25 each. Lenovo has gone on record with their response, therefore....

General Forum Announcement:
Some references have been made recently concerning a web site that is selling Thinkpad Recovery CDs. It has been the official position of Lenovo that this particular site is NOT "a designated provider of our recovery media". As such, this forum will not allow posting of direct links to this site.

Yes, I know it's hard to post a warning about the site without being able to mention its name :) Suffice it to say that if you are looking for Thinkpad Recovery CDs, then you'll know what's not allowable. You are, however, in the best area (the Marketplace forum) to be making this request.
