Looking for: genuine Lenovo battery for the Z61t

My Lenovo is currently equipped with a chinese knockoff battery I got on ebay. My hardware guy insists that batteries like this one are poorly manufactured and leak, and that I got a "hong kong ripoff." It might be a valid concern, the thing doesn't even have a company's name printed on it and the expectation of battery life varies widely.

One thing I do know, however, is that it doesn't work with the Lenovo battery manager, so I may still replace it even if I ultimately find the battery to be safe.

The original battery that came with my Z61t was under a partial recall a long time ago, it was ASM number 92P1126. It died about a week after I received the machine, so I'd like to avoid these ones too.

Thanks,
Paul

You might be hosed on this one if you want a genuine battery. There's just not a lot of sources for genuine Z series because they haven't been being made for a while. Lenovo or a few authorized parts sellers is probably where you'll find it, but that means paying MSRP or close to it. You might want to keep your eye on the outlet, where some older batteries do come up from time to time at very good prices.

Thanks for your response. Is there any particular brand of generic that is known reliable if I can be expected to pay an arm and a leg for a genuine one?

You have to wonder why they didn't use a T60 battery on the Z series.
