Does the Samsung SSD require an adapter for an X40?

Yes, these in my list all use ZIF connectors and require an adapter. Only the original 20/30/40/60GB Hitachi drives use pin connectors.

Do you have a type/model number for the SSD ? And maybe you could supply a picture of the SSD and ZIF adapter?
Maybe i am interested for putting it in my X41 Tablet
I also sent you a PM about shipping to the Netherlands (Europe)

hey sjthinkpader....
I am evaluating what you have!
how much would be the shipping of a hard drive to EU?

I think it should be about US$13-$14.

Hello sjthinkpader
Any drives for X40 still available? (I need something a bit faster and larger than the built-in 40GB Hitachi, but funds are limited.)
Thanks

The Samsung HS081HB is actually pretty fast given that it is a single platter design. It is faster than the 2 platter HS122JB. The 60GB Hitachi is a bit faster than your 40GB.

Thanks for your note and performance info. Do I understand correctly that this means the following options are still available:
HS081HB [80GB]
HS122JB [120GB]
60GB Hitachi [assume HTC426060]
What about the Samsung 32GB SSD SLC? (Smaller, but would be tempting, too.)

Forgot to ask - how has the feedback been on those 32GB Samsung SSDs? Are these reliable, even over time? (In other words - have you heard back from folks you have provided with one of these - SSDs, that is?)

The Samsungs are GREAT. Had a blast with one I bought, made my (since sold) X40 fly...also tested in a couple of newer machines with a SATA adapter, very good performance in my book...YMMV.

Re: Sandisk 32GB SSD Module quoted in the other thread (
http://cgi.ebay.ch/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie ... 0641154199, USD 60): From the performance table (
http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.ph ... 1&start=60, Posted: Wed Mar 03, 2010 8:40 am) it looks like the Sandisk is about twice as fast on random writes (512kb) than the Samsung - or is that another Sandisk module? (The model number SDU-5B-032G seems to indicate that's the one listed in the performance table, though).
I wasn't aware that the SSDs differ that much on performance?

That is true, the Sandisk is faster in random writes and Samsung is faster in sequential writes.
