Wanted:250 gig IDE hard drive

#1 Post by Bookworm » Sat Sep 18, 2010 9:42 pm

I need a 140 gig 2.5" IDE hard drive, preferably a Western Digital or Seagate, not an IBM deathstar. It has to be the thin kind, I think 9.5mm, for a 240.

I don't think that anyone ever made a 140GB laptop drive. 100, 120, 160 are typical sizes.

My i Series 1124, which has the same chipset as the 240X and 240Z, is using a 250GB HDD without any problem. So, you may want to look into whether the 240 can take a 250GB or even 320GB drive.
Microsoft Surface 3 (Atom x7-Z8700 / 4GB / 128GB / LTE)
Dell OptiPlex 9010 SFF (Core i3-3220 / 8GB / 8TB); HP 8300 Elite minitower (Core i7-3770 / 16GB / 9.25TB)
Acer T272HUL; Crossover 404K; Dell 3008WFP, U2715H, U2711, P2416D; Monoprice 10734; QNIX QHD2410R; Seiki Pro SM40UNP

I've been reading about big drives in old ThinkPads, and have never heard of anyone having the BIOS interference problems with a 250 gig. So that's what I want.
