WTB: WLAN card and 512Mb SODIMM for T30

My T30, running Linux Mint, has started to freeze when used on Wireless for a while. The PC-Doctor test points toward a flaky WLAN card, so I am interested in buying a new one. The Mini PCI card that's there now, has FRU P/N 12P3657. But since Linux doesn't have any Device Manager like I am used to from Windows, there is really little else I can tell about it. I just know that it doesn't support WPA encryption, only WEP.

So I am basically interested in any card that does the same job, except I would prefer one that supports WPA. The seller wasn't sure if he did the BIOS non-1802 error fix on this T30, but I am capable of doing that myself if I get this error.

At the same time, I am also looking for another 512MB SODIMM module for it. The one that's already there is a Kingston KTM TP0028/512, but it's no big deal I get a different brand, as long as it's a DDR266/PC2100. I know you can also use DDR333/PC2700 modules in these machines, but I don't know if one DDR333 module and one DDR266 module would work together(?)

If you have both these things, I would be happy to buy both at the same time. However, the memory module depends a little bit on the price. The laptop runs smoothly as it is with only 512MB, and it's just a fun project, so I am not willing to put too much money into it.

Thanks!

Hi Bjorn,

I have 512MB DDR SODIMM, which is DDR333 and it worked just fine in my T40 together with DDR266 stick. I also have IBM original Intel 2200BG wifi card.

Would you be interested in T30 SXGA+ (1400x1050) LCD panel? I have for sale.

Please let me know if you're interested.

Thanks for the offer. Interesting to know that the different kind of modules work together.

I could be interested in your parts, yes. But I will wait and see for a little while if someone here in the US can sell me these parts too. Shipping costs and the hassle of an international money transfer (Unless you do PayPal?) makes this a little more expensive than if I can buy these parts here. If you could let me know the total cost for both parts and shipping, that would be great.

I could theoretically also be interested in the SXGA+, as my panel has become very yellow. It also has a defect where the picture (Not the backlight) goes out when I push the right hand side of the lid away from me in a certain way. Let me know what you ask for it. Since I have a UXGA today, I guess I also need a new cable for it?

Hi there. It looks like I got an offer for these parts from a member here in the US, so you don't have to put any work into checking the shipping costs for me. But thanks for the offer anyway.

Shipping the memory+wifi card to US would cost around 15usd, total would be 40. If you would like the SXGA+ panel, I'd give it for 30, total with shipping them all would be 80usd. I have the proper cable also and I can include that for free.

But if you have found these items in US for cheaper, it's ok :)

Thanks for the offer, and sorry about not getting back to you sooner. I already got these parts here in the US, so wireless is up and running again. Yay!

Your offer for the screen was interesting, though. I don't know what T30 SXGA panels usually sell for, but mine is yellow and will probably need replacing sooner or later. But this will be a project for later.
