For Sale on eBay: Google Nexus One Smartphone

#1 Post by Paul Pennington » Wed Nov 17, 2010 9:37 am

It’s not a ThinkPad, but I’d like to list this here before it goes to eBay. I did sync it with my T42 :)

Executive summary: mint Google Nexus One cell phone for sale.

Details: This is a Google Nexus One Smartphone. I bought it direct from Google the day after they first became available, so this should be a low serial number. The term “mint condition” is overused, but this one is absolutely like new with no marks at all, and works perfectly. I saved all the stick-on covers etc., so opening the box will be just like opening a new one. The headset is still sealed in its plastic bag. Also included in the standard package is the wall charger and a USB cord. There's a wallet-style case that I never used. Extras include a "touch screen stylus" and the 320-page User’s Guide I printed out and bound with tabs for the chapters.

Specifications are available by Googling, and Wikipedia has a detailed article. I'll just add that this is the factory-unlocked PB99100 model that uses T-Mobil 3G. I used it on AT&T Edge and WI-Fi -- just put in your SIMM card and go. Original 4 GB micro-SD card is still in place. This has received the official push upgrade, direct from Google, to the 2.21 version (froyo) Android operating system.

Some features I liked were that you can easily remove the back to replace the battery, the micro SD card (up to 32 GB), and the SIMM card. It even has a magnetometer, so there are compass applications and a metal detector that actually works -- it found a property stake in my yard. Two cool applications are: taking pictures of bar codes in a store and popping up information on the web, and taking pictures of Sudoku puzzles that the application reads in to the game, ready to play.

Click here for pictures of the front and back.

Search eBay for item # 280596500194 . Under warranty until Jan 7, 2011.

Pretty good in my limited experience. I have good coverage where I live and work though.

Hardware-wise it is a fantastic phone, and makes the iPhone look like an overpriced joke.

Thanks for the report, ThinkRob. As I said, I used it on AT&T so I only used the EDGE data, not 3G, which is only available on T-Mobile with this model. I actually got most of my data via free Wi-Fi, which is becoming widely available. I had good reception with the EDGE data and voice network signals on this phone. If there were any problems, you could send it back to HTC for repair under warranty.
