WTB recovery CD's

#1 Post by kingman99 » Sun Jan 23, 2011 6:15 pm

Hi

Replacing my hard drive and l can't find my Wind xp pro recovery CD's.
If the same person has a SATA 5400 160gb or better l would also be interested but the CD's come first.

Thanks

Alan

If you're looking for machine-specific Thinkpad discs, you'll need to give a model #.

Possibly not. The OPs T61 has an Intel GPU. The disc set listed is for NVidia machines.

Hi

I just swapped out the bad hard drive and now l have to start installing The recovery CD's.

But here is the problem, l received 8 CD's (all Lenovo). 6 of them are numbered but the other two
have me quite confused;

I is Lenovo
Rescue and recovery CD Disc 1 of 1

The second one also Lenovo
Supplemental Product recovery CD

The first CD that l tryed to install is the Rescue and recovery CD but as it was playing it didn't seem to
be what l wanted!

So l tried to to install 1 of 6 and nothing happened.

All that l'm trying to do is start all over from day one. I don't want to recover anything. All that l want to do is reload my computer
and off l go. I want to save nothing!!!!!!!

What you are saving is your operating system, drivers, etc. to recover and restore your machine.

Here is what the lenovo instruction sheet says for your recovery set.

Package consists of one bootable (startable) Rescue and Recovery Startup CD, and depending on your computer model, one or more non-bootable supplemental Product Recovery CD's. Product Recovery CD's contain a copy of the software that was preinstalled on your Lenovo computer. You use the Rescue and Recovery Startup CD to start the recovery process.

NOTE: Only the Rescue and Recovery Startup CD is Bootable.

NOTE: Not all Recovery CD sets come with a supplemental CD. If there is a supplemental CD, it will be clearly marked as supplemental and will be the final CD used in the recovery process.

If you want, I will pm you what is written on my Instruction Sheet for Lenovo Recovery CD set for my Son's T60. It gives detailed, step by step instructions for those of us not used to this procedure.

EDIT: I PM'd you the Lenovo Instructions -- hope that helps
