Sold to a forum member. Thanks!
I have a ThinkPad T42 (type 2373-3XU) for sale. It has a problem where the wireless and wired adapters "flake out" every few minutes. Very rarely are wireless networks detected and both lose any ability to communicate pretty quickly. This problem has remained through multiple OS installations (XP and 7), multiple hard drives, multiple networks, and multiple wireless cards. So, buy this knowing it will need a new motherboard unless you want to use a PCMCIA card (which I cannot even guarantee will work). As a technician who has worked on tons and tons of these things, there is definitely something wrong with the chipset (probably PCI or power management controller).
Aside from the network connectivity, it seems to function normally. I have not thoroughly tested the graphics chipset but I haven't seen a problem in the months I've dealt with this unit.
Specs:
Pentium M 735 1.7GHz
ATI Mobility Radeon 9600
Intel PRO/1000 ethernet
Intel PRO/Wireless 2100 3B
15" SXGA+ Flexview display (darker in lower right corner; hardly noticeable and fairly common)
CD-RW/DVD combo drive
HD cover, caddy, and screws
6-cell battery (good for 0:30-1:00 I believe)
4.5A AC adapter
Optional, but if the price is right I can probably include:
Hard drive (Seagate Momentus 5400.2, but that's also not a giveaway!)
Mini-Dock w/ the huge adapter for that
Looking to get $60 plus shipping. It is in almost perfect physical condition, with just a hint of shine on the keyboard. The screen is fantastic, of course.
Shoot me a message and maybe we can work something out!
Edit: I'll consider parting it out if this doesn't get enough interest. Maybe someone wants a barebones 15" T42.
