I had previously posted about wanting a ThinkPad T/R400 or 500, but my financial situation has taken a turn for the worse. I am now looking for something cheaper. I am basically looking for the best-specced machine for less than $550, or £340 British pounds.

Here in the UK, cheap ThinkPads are farely sparse if you want something recent. I definitely miss that about the US, inexpensive electronics.

I DO however want a machine:

In good condition (very important)
With at least 2GB memory
With a decent working battery
With a fingerprint reader

Please let me know of you have or know of something that might work for me.

minimum cpu, os or hdd size?
how about screen? 4:3 or widescreen?

On (sigh) eBay I got my X200 brand new for exactly $500 shipped. If you find one, the X200 sounds like a great machine for you. T400/T500 machines can be found for similar prices with some deal hunting.
