I'm thinking about selling my 701c

#1 Post by ken701c » Tue Apr 19, 2011 1:47 pm

Hello All:

I just registered so I could find out if anyone would be interested in buying my 701c... If there is, I will post details. Basically, it's a running 701c with all of the accessories (as shipped) and a couple other items. The only "bad" part is the battery - it could use a new one.

Update: Sorry everyone... I didn't know what I wanted to sell it for - I'm just going to throw out a number because I haven't found any for sale right now (I have no reference point). Anyway, $200 OBO...

Ken

Welcome to the forum Ken. I am sure someone would be interested in your 701c. The only thing we ask on this forum is that you list an asking price. You can negotiate offline all you want, but a starting price is mandatory. Good luck with the sale.

Just remember...you are selling a really rare & cool piece of history that you could proudly display in your home or office.

What a great invention by IBM. I won't be selling mine any day soon or that vintage camera I have on display in my office.

I think that is a great compliment for the 701c.

I took a look for the Thinkpad 701 when I visited the MOMA in February 2011, but wasn't able to find it. I am sure they have one, but it is not part of their regular standing collection. -- They were working on a new exhibit of contemporary items, though, so it is possible that it will (or has already) appeared as part of that new exhibit. My suspicion, however, is that it will only appear to the public at the MOMA rarely, as part of a special "tech" or "computer" or "usabilty" or "typewriter" design exhibition.
