Will the T7700 work in a T60? If so, how do I tell if my board will support it?

T7700 will NOT work in any T60/p.

It might work in T60 but downgraded and not worth the cost, esp compared to a T7200.

T7700 will not work in a T60 at 2.4 ghz, it downgrades the FSB 667 Mhz , it might work @ 2.00 GHZ or equivalent to T7200.

T7700 would go in a T61/ R61 or other boards which can support FSB 800MHZ.

Better to stick to supported boards and bios. Thank you goofygaguy and realblackstuff.

The T9300 and T7700 are for the likes of a R61/T61/X61.
R60/T60/X60/Z60 machines need (even-numbered) CPUs like T7200/T7400/T7600

Why is the T7700 so much cheaper than the T7600? It looks like the T7700 is a bit faster.

T7600 seems to be the highest processor on the T60 line up with 945PM chipset. Nothing beyond that.

T7700 has T7800 above it and then depending on revision of the motherboard the newer Penryn processors like T8100--> T9500 are supported.So more choices to upgrade the T61/ R61/X61 series...
