Hey Thinkpadders!

Looking for a cheap Dual Core to upgrade a machine I got for the wife's parents.

The motherboard/bios are locked to 533. I dropped a T5600 C2D in it and while it runs at 1467 mhz (11 multiplier @533), it doesn't step unless I force it down.

So I would like to toss in a processor with a 533 fsb that will run right and utilize speed step.

I'd like a 1.5 ghz or better and cheap.

The lappy originally had a Celeron 420m, a Yonah family chip. So this is a 65nm, PPGA478 processor.

Watcha got?

Thanks!

Daniel

I just Picked up a 2ghz but it was a Socket P chip so if yours is a Yonah then you will need a Socket M processor FYI.

Early memrons for the Socket M will work as well.

I assumed I'd see if anyone had something, run the chip through Intel's site for the specs and go from there. Thanks for the feedback though.

Looks like I am Ebay bound.

i've got a t2500 yonah and a t7200 merom
both are: 2ghz and 667mhz fsb.
differences are: core duo vs c2d and 2 vs 4mb l2 cache.

further digging looks like you'd need either the t5200 or t5300 merom

or one of the following yonahs: t2050, t2250, t2350 or t2450
