Withdrawn: i Series 1200 1161-42M - for parts
Posted: Fri May 27, 2011 7:32 am
I got this ThinkPad in a bulk purchase of laptops. It came without a power supply, hard drive and memory. I have no way of determining its operational state and am not interested in getting it going, so I am selling it for parts. I was going to put it on ebay locally as a 99 cent auction but thought I would offer it here first.
Another thing it is missing is the lid hinge covers. I presume they are covers because the lid appears to be still hinged in some way. (I am not familiar with this series.) Now that I look at it more closely I can see there is a hairline crack on the outer lid casing near one of the hinges, about 3cm in length. There is also a hairline crack in the corresponding place on the LCD bezel, 1cm long. I would say the outer one has structural consequences and the inner one is cosmetic. Apart from that it all looks quite neat. The keyboard is in very good condition with only a little shine on some keys. The LCD surface is unmarked, except for 2 pinprick size scratches which may or may not be visible when the screen turns on (if indeed the screeen turns on at all!).
So overall very good cosmetically for its age. Which raises the question why it was "mothballed".

For the whole thing, $20.
If there is interest in more than 2 parts then I will break it up.
$4 for any of these parts:
. Mainboard
. Keyboard
. LCD
. Optical drive
. Windows ME COA sticker
. Base, including drive cover and memory cover
Less for anything else. Buyer pays postage.
The large Ni-MH battery will not be shipped because it cannot be sent through the postal system.
The killer for most of you will be the cost of postage from Australia. It is more economical to post something as a letter than a parcel. Restrictions on letters:
Letter: http://auspost.com.au/apps/international-letter.html
Parcel: http://auspost.com.au/apps/international-parcel.html
The weight of the whole Thinkpad without the battery is 2.1 Kg.
Prices can be either USD or AUD.
EDIT:
No interest in this, so withdrawn.
