WTB: T60 fan, FRU 41W6407

I am searching for a new (and hence neither used, nor “refurbished”) fan for a T60 having a T7200 CPU and an ATI X1300 (discrete) GPU. The fan I am specifically looking for is the FRU 41W6407.

I have been in contact with a couple of USA-based eBay-sellers who offer this part, and who all note it to be compatible with 41V9932 (although these two parts are indeed different, as discussed in the thread Fan for T60 2007-CTO V3B – see especially this post for more information about the differences), but none of the eBay-sellers are able to actually guarantee that a 41W6407 will be delivered, even if being very specifically ordered (!?!)… it may just as well be the unwanted part, the 41V9932. Therefore, I hope that some friendly forum-member may be able with helping me finding a brand new 41W6407 at an attractive price…

Hi Johan,

So you're in the US now and need an 41W6407 very badly? If you are in fact not, have you checked the IBM replacement part store at ibm.dk? 5 months ago I ordered a new fan for a T60p from them, and the price of the 41V9932 was quite a bit higher compared to the 41W6407, so I opted for the 41W6407 instead, as the former wasn't in stock either. I actually asked them about the 41V9932, and they told me that they can't get this part any longer, so they would have shipped me the 41W6407. This makes sense. At least they also had enough courage to ship me a Chicony keyboard rather than the Alps I ordered (without notice), but that's another topic.
Other than that, I think I preferred the old 41V9932, since the fan of the 41W6407 sounds slightly more annoying emitting a more distinct "tone" than the 41V9932.

I didn't email you because I think you already were aware of the replacement parts store, but a free b.u.m.p. is always useful
