FOUND: Trade X60s for T series

#1 Post by edikat » Sat Jul 09, 2011 7:17 am

Hi there

I have an excellent condition X60s that I am willing to trade for one of the following:

1. Any T series with SXGA+ or better screens in good condition (used but not abused)
This includes even the T23 (if it has SXGA+ of course!)

2. An A31p SXGA+/UXGA

3. An X31/X32 + Dock if they are both in excellent (=mint) condition

3. Make me an offer (exchange only - cash not required :))

The X60s is a 1704-5UG (March 2007 production) configuration upgraded to 2GB, that is Duo Core 1.66 Low Voltage, 80GB SATA, Fingerprint reader, Bluetooth, WLAN. The battery is third-party however, and lasts approx 3 hours (rarely use so it may be longer but I don't think much shorter than this).

This model has NO markings, NO cracks, NO missing parts and I'd grade it as a B+, certainly not new but has been very well taken care of. I can take photos and post them

Running licensed Windows 7 Ultimate very smoothly (however no disks are supplied).

There is no Docking station but complete DVD equipped X6's are available on eBay for under £25/$50.

Would prefer the UK (based Edinburgh if you wish to view) but would consider worldwide if we can come to some arrangement.

Just curious why you would want to trade an X60s for an X32?. The X60s is a much faster machine with more modern technology. Why not just buy an X6 Ultrabase for it if that is what you are looking for?

The reason for the exchange really was the X60s screen was too small for my work and even a P4 UXGA class machine would be preferable (my CPU requirements as well as battery are fairly minimal) - I will spend a lot of my day in the library working these next few months - so a big machine isn't too much of an issue. I have an awesome "crumpler" bag that will take one huge machine :)

I added the X3x series as a wildcard as if somebody had one of these I'd quite happily revert to one of them and just purchase a used T series. I have a lot of X31 time (no X32 but it looks very much like an upgraded X31). The X31 with the P-M 1.4? was nice 'n' cool running. Forget the speed of the X60s vs X3x- I just don't need it. I added the Dock as a straight swap (even for a mint X3x) was a bit uneven (I doubt I'd use the dock a lot).

Another issue (that really bugs me I gotta be frank) is the X60s palm rest (wireless card) runs warm and that really annoys me. I don't think my X60s is any different from any other as my friends X60s runs the same, it just doesn't bother him so much. It seems a pretty standard gripe with the X60s, some can live with it, some change the card to non-intel, some use an external card, me.... I just change machines :)

I hope that clarifies things!

This thread has now closed as Neil kindly offered an excellent trade which should keep me going another year or so :D

Many thanks to those that responded.
