I have an X301 that is still under 3 year Lenovo wtty and was thinking of extending it another year but it prices out at $199 - yikes!
Does anyone know if Lenovo ever has "eCoupons" to discount warranty extensions (I am guessing "no"...)

When I wanted to go from 3 to 5 years on my T43, I bought it at Provantage, it was considerably less than the Lenovo price. Once I bought it, my new warranty status was reflected on the Lenovo site within 48 hours.

This extension came in very handy as my T43 had many repairs the next two years, including motherboard (Southbridge went south), screen, LCD, inverter, etc.

Provantage is the way to go. $199 sounds like a lot for only one year, but I'm thinking depot. To extend a 3 year depot warranty to 4 years is usually $99 and from 3 year to 5 years is usually $199.

Perhaps you have an on-site warranty and/or other upgrades like TPP?

Note: Hopefully, your X301 initially came with a standard 3 year warranty. Lenovo only permits one pre-expiration warranty upgrade per unit. Post-warranty upgrades are possible, but do cost more.

I have about 6 months left on a 3 year on-site & ThinkPlus warranty but Lenovo is only offering on-site as my only option.
The warranty p/n pulls up on provantage but does not list the X301 nor my machine type, so I will contact them for assistance.
Sounds like the way to go.
Thanks to all.

I believe the ThinkPlus upgrade on the original warranty is the issue. You are probably not eligible for another pre-expiration warranty upgrade so you are being quoted post-warranty pricing. Which is the Lenovo policy. I still don't understand the policy.

They offer warranty even when a machine goes out of warranty?
