via Newegg.com - OCZ 60GB SSD for $50 after rebate
Great price for entry SSD, see link below (I ordered one for my R60).
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6820227738
Update Note: Not surprising, this drive was SOLD OUT by the end of the day (8/26/2011). However, occasionally, Newegg will restock deals, so check back until you see the price has increase or the link doesn't work.
Another update: NOT WORTH BUYING - IT SIMPLY DOESN'T WORK! DOZENS OF NEGATIVE REVIEWS ON NEWEGG AND ELSEWHERE. Newegg dropped the price to $44.99 after rebate for a day or two, but it's still not worth it, it does not work.
See this new thread for trouble I've had with my new, low cost SSD --> http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=99024

Oh wow - almost compatible to the price of a more expensive 64GB flash drive. Thanks for the link, underclocker.

Actually, they do ship to Canada and the rebate form from the link above does include www.newegg.ca, but you might have to order via the Canadian Newegg site. However, from the Canadian site, the price for the same item is much higher.onigiri wrote:Bah, I don't think they ship to canada. Too bad, I've been wanting to get try one.
I'm not sure you can buy from the U.S. site with Canadian shipping. It might be worth a phone call.

Re: via Newegg.com - OCZ 60GB SSD for $50 after rebate
That's a good deal with only a small rebate. I have the 40GB version of this drive in my main desktop and HTPCs. They're plenty fast. One thing I disliked about having a SSD in my laptop was the lack of space. Most everything had to be stored on the external, which is a bit of pain, but the dual drives in the X220i has solved this. If you need some space and want good performance, the Seagate Momentus might be worth a look.

when i loooked at the logicbuy deal it sure looked to be still available..
whatever, another will be along..
those who want one should watch logicbuy..
i "tweeted" a few of those SSD deals in the past and i guess i should start doing it again, but i had thought everyone who wanted an SSD would have picked one up by now..
meanwhile, back to your regular programming..

Re: via Newegg.com - OCZ 60GB SSD for $50 after rebate
This price almost makes me feel bad about suggestion that Corsair Nova to my buddy last month.
The general consensus appears to be that most of OCZ's problems occurred after the NAND die shrinks in their Sandforce generation of SSDs, so I guess the ones with Indilinx controllers are safe.
While I personally have yet to have any problems with my Vertex 2 *knock on wood*, my brother's Agility 2 was already RMA'd twice within 4 months.

That's my take on it too. Only I still wouldn't trust Sandforce even with non-OCZ drives...ChugokuOtaku wrote:The general consensus appears to be that most of OCZ's problems occurred after the NAND die shrinks in their Sandforce generation of SSDs, so I guess the ones with Indilinx controllers are safe.
The only issues that I recall with their Indilinx controllers was that they didn't quite seem to get how to produce reliable, stable firmware for the first couple generations -- a couple of the releases had some nasty, nasty data-munching bugs -- but after that they seem to have cleaned up their act. I've used a couple of the early drives with recent firmware releases and they seemed fine. (Nothing special, but then again sometimes you *want* boring.

And the Newegg reviews are getting worser and worser... (I know it's bad grammar, but you get the drift...)
