FS: ThinkPad TransNote - RARE - SOLD for $108 at auction

#1 Post by Ph.Dad » Sat Aug 27, 2011 7:45 pm

SOLD!

EDIT on 8/31/11: They "buy it now" price I had set on Ebay has disappeared. Didn't realize that would happen. Anyway, it's a pure auction listing now. Good luck!!!

Seems that this forum is very active for Thinkpad devotees. I own an X61T that I use as my personal machine, but have up for sale a very clean TransNote.

Included Items:
-Computer (working very well!)
-Microsoft Office XP
-Microsoft Windows 2000 SP4
-Battery (though I don't think it will charge anymore. Needs replacing)
-Port extender/replicator
-Product CDs
-Stylus (needs new battery, AAAA type)
-NotePads (3-pack, still shrink wrapped)
-Power Adapter (OEM)

Most of you probably know how cool of a computer the TransNote is, so I won't go into details. I also chose to sell through Ebay because, being a new member here, I thought it was the safest route. Here's the link! http://www.ebay.com/itm/190570557871?ss ... 1055wt_932

For your Convenience, I've pasted my Ebay description below. Please let me know if you have any questions. Probably best to contact me through Ebay, as I may not check this forum very routinely.

Regards,
Paul

Product Information
Model: 2675
Product Information: IBM ThinkPad TransNote
Manufacturer: IBM
Type: Tablet PC

Description:
Get your hands on a fully functional piece of history! This is the predecessor for today's modern tablets, and by all accounts this is a unique piece of equipment. The screen takes input from both the stylus and touch. It is in perfect working order, with zero dead pixels or touch regions. Furthermore, input written on the notepad with the included pen/stylus can be mirrored directly on the computer screen!! IMPORTANT, the battery in the stylus is dead and I could NOT test whether or not the stylus still works, though I believe it is fine. Takes a AAAA battery, which I do not have laying around. The operating system runs quite well considering the relatively poor stats of the hardware compared to modern equipment. This computer would serve you well as a simple word-processor, email client, or web browser. It folds conveniently into a self-contained, faux leather notebook form factor that looks and feels nice. For the collectors out there, I would consider this to be in very good to excellent condition. I've tried to capture the cosmetics on the included images. BATTERY WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED

FAST SHIPPING!

AS-IS, NO RETURNS

GOOD LUCK!

That is too bad. Wish I had more experience with sending stuff across the ocean and I would have been more comfortable opening it up to international bidders. But yeah, the postage would have been outrageous anyway.

To keep a Buy-It-Now price longer, you need to also set a Reserve.
Without a Reserve, after just 1 bid the BIN price disappears, forcing you perhaps to sell WAY under the value.
E.g. BIN = $250.-, Reserve is $180.-
Any bid under $180.- will keep the BIN, as soon as it goes over $180, the BIN disappears.

Unfortunately it's too late now to make changes.

Words of wisdom. I made this mistake more than once when I first started selling on ebay
Current: X1 Carbon Gen 3 - 20BT-S1LV00 - i5-5300U - 8GB DDR3L - WQHD Touch - 256GB SSD
Previous: X60s - 1702-3QU | X200s - 7466-44U | X230 - 2325-2RU | X240sx - 20AK-A00RHH
Projects: 560 - 2640-2OU | 600E - 2645-3AU | T21 2647-6AU | X60t - 6366-L6U

Thanks for the advice. I'll definitely keep that in mind for the future. I am still a relative noob when it comes to selling on Ebay. Apparently, the BIN works differently for other categories. I've sold some cell phones recently without reserve prices, and the BIN price hung around for several bids.
Still, for this one, I just hope it goes to someone who will appreciate more than I.
