Hi,
My T43 gives me an Fan error and wouldn't boot up.
I think I need to replace the fan. Do I need a long fan or not? How would I find part number/place to purchase?
machine type is 2668-c2u.

I would appreciate it much if I can get it from someone in this wonderful forum or if someone can guide me what/where to get it.

Thanks in advance.

Your T43 is having the following specifications:
ThinkPad T43 (2668-C2U)
P M 760 (2 GHz), 512 MB RAM, 80 GB 5400 rpm HDD, 14.1" 1400x1050 LCD, 64 MB ATI Radeon X300, 24x24x24x/8x CD-RW/DVD, Intel 802.11abg wireless(MPCI), Modem(CDC), 1Gb Ethernet(LOM), UltraNav, Secure Chip, 6 cell Li-Ion batt, WinXP Pro
If you look at System service parts - ThinkPad T43, T43p and see item #18 (the fan) you will find that you need a long fan designated "M24" and having Lenovo FRU (Field Replacable Unit) no. 26R9074. You may (probably) get it easiest on eBay (choose [sellers] "Location" = "US Only" or "North America" to avoid having to wait weeks for a shipment from e.g. China). Beware to get a NEW (unused, original) fan, rather than some unknown "compatible, refurbished" parts. About how to dissamble and later re-assemble your T43, get the ThinkPad Computer Hardware Maintenance Manual - July 2005 (covering ThinkPadT43/p's).

See the thread T42 Fan replacement for many useful advices about fan replacement in T42's or T43's. By the way, you may want to substitute the official T43 "M24"-fan (26R9074) with the lower-noise (long) T42/p having FRU 41W5204.

Finally, kindly allow me to point your attention to this very useful search-script made by HarryC - try it out, and you'll learn how to find answers to many questions... already answered in great detail!

Small hint: get a long fan from T42/T42p, it is significantly quieter than the fan from T43/T43p.
