Hello, post the FRU but also simply check the color of the rubber bumper underneath.

So far I've come across the following 3 major categories for T60 keyboards:

(1) Blue bumpers (NMB)
(2) Green bumpers (Aqua type color)
(3) White bumpers

There may be others but those are the 3 types I've encountered having purchased dozens of these.
The keycaps from each color category are completely interchangeable. So if you let me know what color bumper you have under that <F5> key, I would be glad to mail you a keycap no charge of course.

Daniel :)

no rubber bumper under the keytop..
just a small black plastic square with a metal scissors mechanism on the right and left sides of the black plastc square..

the keytop lifts UP from the edge nearest the screen and slides down toward the space bar to fully remove the keytop..

the other keyboards i have here are all different.. white bumper and green bumper..

i guess i'll have to pull the keyboard to get the FRU #..

The spare keyboard I have doesn't have the mechanism Bill needs, so my PM went nowhere

Just a note though -- I did try to 'interchange' a key from my spare keyboard to my different mechanism T60 keyboard, and the key caps would not fit the different keyboard...
bummer...

I remembered this post on T60 Keyboard Comparison with an image of the different keyboards which should help in identifying the one you've got without having to remove it. Good luck, Bill.

So you do have an NMB. Those are the best keyboards ever made. I have an FRU P/N 39T0958 in my hands right now. (If you look carefully at an angle underneath the "square plastic mechanism" you will will see a round Blue bumper. Contact me with your shipping info. and your <F5> keycap will be there in about 3 days :)

Have a great night,
Daniel.

Brilliant :thumbs-UP: What's next? the washing machine? the lawn mower? or worst of all... the jaws of a parrot?

All's well that ends well :)

Daniel.

the jaws of a parrot?
regretably, they DO have a penchant for eating such things..
well, not "eating" actually but just chewing and then spitting the parts out..
like the garage door opener "keyfob" thing..

i use old wine cartons and other cardboard boxes to entertain them in their cages..
the cockatoos and parrots chew these cartons into little absorbent bits which fall through the "grate" to the bottom of their cages and thus provide "bedding" material..

in short, they play and reduce my work.. :)

only thing is never hang your keys near them..
