Might not be what most people are looking for around here, but it is noteworthy nonetheless I think.

Maybe they'll make a 14" 16:10 next year. You never know.

Too small, no optical drive, probably doesn't even have an Ethernet port.

To be honest, I'm not particularly upset about ports. One to dock to a monitor, which has a hub for keyboard, mouse etc, and one spare which would be rarely used, maybe handy to plug in a camera / phone / memory card occasionally is just about tolerable. Really don't care about an optical drive - is this a use-case that people really want ? If it's very occasional use to rip something, then an external one would do. I don't even use wired networking much, though I guess there is a stronger case that can be made for it than the optical drive. I don't think it's all bad as a super portable machine. For me, a slightly bigger screen would be good. It would be nice to have a headphone socket. Of course the old keyboard would be the icing on the cake, but I guess that's my strange request ! (It would make it fractionally thicker, but I wouldn't care).

Different folks have different requirements.

I ran wires so I would not have to connect wireless. And I use the optical drive to copy discs and install from them, and once in a while play a video. For me a wired Ethernet port and an optical drive are Required as is the capability for an additional storage device and preferably a docking connector.

No, not yet. Replace the Intel crap with AMD and fix the broken keyboard layout (at least to be like HP Envy layout or optional FN-ed on cursor keys).

A 17 inch 16:10 screen is the same height as a 15 inch 4:3 screen (9 inches). If Lenovo produces a 2kg such laptop, it may finally be time to retire my T601 laptops.
Work: T60/61 FPad (Win 7, UXGA IPS); T60/61 FPad (Win 7, UXGA IPS); forever.
Toys: X1 (first gen, Win 7); T450s (Win 7).

And because those eejits blow hot air on the right hand side, Lenovo Nano = LeNONO.

I'll leave a wake-up call for 15.4". Until then I'm not interested.

Yep, that's why the 1.35 kg (2.98 lb) LG Gram 17 series with 17" 2560x1600 remains the most interesting laptop IMO, especially the new model that came out just a couple months ago:

16:10 is a great news, but why on earth would they do only 2 usb C ports??

full size hdmi is a must, at least 1 usb A is a must, mini jack is must!

building something narrow is easy. Building something useful and quite narrow, that's really important. No need to make a XPS13 like laptop. Just make a thinkpad!

With Thunderbolt you get DisplayPort so you can connect to any modern monitor, and there seem to be lots of cheap Thunderbolt to HDMI cables if you really want to connect to HDMI (please correct me if I'm wrong in this, I get all this stuff mixed up sometimes, but I think this is right ?). So maybe tolerable, even though they've gone minimal on the number and type of ports ?

If not I guess you've got to go up the scale of X1C / T14s / T14 until you find a machine that gives you what you want. In my opinion there are too many, undifferentiated Thinkpads, you could probably cull 50% of the range without harm !

Anyway, I think there'll be a headphone / audio jack, the leaked slide says "2 x Thunderbolt4 USB-C | Audio Jack".
